What mods would you do next?

Greetings,
I've got a list of mods I'd like to do this Holiday season and would like input as to which ones you believe would be the best, or to recommend another option.

Presently, I've got a stock GT/CS Vert with a K&N CAI.
I don't take it to the track and it's not my DD.
I'm not that great at turning the wrenches, so I'd want to get simple mods I can do myself.

I just ordered a Bullitt STB from KC.

I've got a $1,000 budget and here's what I'm looking into.

SCT with tunes (Tillman possibly)

Borla Stingers or Ford Stingers, from what I can tell the biggest difference is the .5 inch smaller tips on the Ford version.

MGW Shifter

Slotted Cross-Drilled Rotors (I'd have to find a shop for this one to install)

Thanks for the input.
Oh, and does anyone know a good speed shop near the Metuchen NJ area?

I would do the mufflers if it were my car. We sell quite a few of the Ford Racing Stinger type mufflers. If I remember right the Ford Racing mufflers are made by Borla.

I would probably skip the rotors. I would also go with the Borla stingers and not the Ford brand.

Those are some good options. I would go with just the slotted not cross drilled, they develop cracks.
And I would go with the Tillmans tune. Why not make it a road trip and head down to Tillmans and check them out.

Has anyone ever compared similar Tillman and Brenspeed tunes? I've heard good from both. I have a CAI and tune coming from Brenspeed.

My first 2 tunes were Brenspeed which were good but the Tillmans were much better and then even better after the dyno tune which is expected.

Before you spend $350 on an MGW shifter, try Steeda's urethane shifter bushings. They only take an hour or so to install (was my first mod actually) and only cost $23 (that includes shipping). They make a world of difference. Not as much as the MGW would, but i'd see if $330 savings still meets your needs.

The CAI and tune are an extremely popular way to go, and with good reason. Big change in performance for relatively little money. To tell you the truth, its mostly from the tune until you get to higher RPM where the intake would start to make a difference.

Also consider:
Upper and Lower Control Arms (if you suffer from wheel hop or hit the gas hard around corners a lot)
Sway bars (front first)
Dyno Tune instead of mail-order tunes.

I'm still a pretty satisfied customer. The 93 street race tune still trips a P0172 or P0175 code once in a while, but I had to switch back down to the 91 Performance tune because the explosive way the 93 tune lays down the power was too much for the summer tires to handle in the last week now that its gotten cold. Gotta say I like the power of the 93 but prefer the linear way the 91 tune's throttle response is.

That's cool... it's all preference!

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? I pulled your datalog up and your fuel trims are within 2% all the way up until just before WOT which is as high as we can check. And then at wot, just below the top part throttle range I could go, it gives the commanded AFR, so there's gotta be something vacuum line related leaking.

I like the 4" tips.

Plus, I don't know if the FRPP version is T-304 SS.

FOR SURE get the sct/tune, borlas, and some dynamat extreme (bulk pack cheapest i found at etronics.com) for the trunk and you are GTG! TOO easy drill sargENT!

Something from your post makes me believe that you want the shifter first. If i'm right, I want to say that since you have a $1000 budget, that you stay away (for now) from any mod that could expose you to potential additional problems that you wont foresee. These problems will likely come with additional labor costs which can easily surpass your budget. The mods that I picked dont have any asscociated labor costs as you can do all the work yourself, and spending all of the $1000 on real parts rather than half of it on labor for not-as-sweet mods sounds like a good plan to me.

CAI and tune from Bama, Brenspeed, or Tillman
FRPP Stingers would be the two I would do. That should put you in the 8-900 dollar range combined. I would also consider the Hurst shifter, I got mine for $130 brand new and I love it!

The FRPP Stingers have 4" tips, the catalog and online FRPP site have it misprinted.

I have had both the Ford Racing stingers and the Borla's. Although the FRPP stingers are made by Borla the quality and fitment wasn't as good as the Borla's.

With a $1000 budget I would go with the stingers (your choice) and tunes from Brenspeed. Your car will perform better and you will love the exhaust. JMO~
