What do you think of these mods?

I just got a quote from Local Dealer here in CO. I have '07 GT/CS and planning on following mods:

-Steeda CAI
-Lightweight Pullies
-Magnaflow Catted X-pipe
-SCT Tune

Totalling approx $1,900 installed at the Dealer. I'd be expecting around 50 rwhp gain with these mods says the Dealer. What do you think?

I think you are paying way too much and you could save yourself 400 or 500 $$ buy installing it yourself

Go with JLT or C&L CAI with a Banachip SCT tune not the Steeda
Forget the pullies
Exhaust is OK
50 HP gain? Not with there mods. Sorry

Lets see if I can answer these questions for you...

Cold air intake = Steeda = NO go with C&L or JLT and get the CAI / SCT Tuner combo from Doug @ BamaChips. YOU CAN INSTALL THIS YOURSELF, VERY EASY!

Pullies = YES, Steeda, BUT, recommend getting the installed professionally, (should only run you about $100-150 to install)

Magnaflow Catted X = YES, you can install this yourself as well, or if you feel more comfortable having a professional install it, that should also run you less that $100 for installation.

$1900?? get out of there! They are trying to fool you and take some money off of you....

a helmsinc manual will cost you 150.00 plus the cost of your parts.. and any tools you don't have already... a set at sears for 200 maybe...

in the long run you'll save soo much money.

I did my all my mods and pushed the button on the tuner.... and saved I have no idea how much money... but then again I did most likely use that up buying tools that I didn't have at the time. However thts a win/win next time I have to do it or help someone.

He's full of **** on the RWHP quote. I gained 22 RWHP from stock with Corsa X-pipe, Corsa mufflers, C&L CAI, and Bamachips 91 race tune. Even if I added longtubes and UDP's it still wouldn't be 50 RWHP over stock.

I was going to suggest I come over and help you install that stuff, but noticed your in Colorado.

I just helped a guy from another forum I have gone to for 5-6 years, swap out his clutch,pp and flywheel on his honda. I did most of the work but no complaints as I know he's never worked on his car but had the willingness to learn and buy me dinner afterward.

Thanks for offering help. The thing is that I'd easily could do everything by myself too, need to go and buy some tools! Thanks.

I agree with everyone, way to much.

Find you some other car guys in your area to help and learn from them. Most gear heads will help you with the understanding you buy food, drinks, etc while the work is being done or afterwards and then help them when they have a project and they will do the same. You will learn a lot and gain friends.

I did that in college a lot and still have great friends from it.

And what is wrong with the Steeda CAI ?? they recently upgraded their 90mm. MAF housing with a 4 inch plastic intake elbow that looks almost identical to the C&L racer intake..Combined with just my X-Cal II strategy flash tuner ? I've gained around 21.4 HP which isn't bad for just a CAI and canned SCT tuner..

I see nothing wrong with the Steeda intake.... I was going to get one until I realized that was 300$ closer to a supercharger in the spring.

Order placed!

Hi,

I ordered C&L Intake and Xcalibrator 2 COMBO from Doug @ Bamachips yesterday.

Can't wait to get it installed. Need to buy tools (just moved from Finland) and rip my Stang apart on some lot... or IF someone lives around Boulder area with tools and place to install it, I'd be happy to get some help.

The C&L requires minimal tools! That's the beauty of this mod - just an 8mm socket, 10mm socket, a torx bit driver, a couple of screwdrivers and a small bit of elbow grease.

You will also appreciate your mods much more if you do them yourself.

Too bad you're in Boulder, I would help out also... if you were in SoCal I'd help!

50 HP!..No way, especially at high altitude.

judging by your mod list here, I hope you haven't been listening to those clowns at Omeara Ford.

I think you made a better choice with the other order.
