i have the flomaster kit on my 05. the sound is great. there is a drone when you are in 5th gear at low rpm. here is a grood review on them.

Flowermasters are a chanmbered mufflers. Basically the exchayst and sound go thru doors/maze to get out of the muffler.

The Magnaflow are straight thru pipe with tiny holes that send some sound & exhaust into the holes. In the area behind the holes is sound deading material to lower the volume of the sound.

Try mustangexhaust.com. Register and listen to the sounds in the 4.6 section.

I don't know how to explain it other than flowmaster is more of a classic muscle car sound and magnaflow / bassani (all "straight through" styles) are more of an exotic sound.

My personal favorite is JBA, followed by MAC and Flowmaster (similar sounds). Check out THIS sound clip for an example of a JBA muffler system.

You should be able to find flowmaster clips on the flowmaster website, jba clips on the jba website, etc...

Edit: and drone is a resonance sound inside the cabin at certain rpm ranges (generally between 1900 and 2300 RPM, depending on which muffler system you're talking about. It basically just sounds like it gets real loud at certain rpms (but only inside the car, not outside the car).

On the 05 Mustang the MagnaPak mufflers sound really good w/ stock h-pipe. If you plan on running and offroad xpipe it might be a bit loud. The flowmaster sound about the same as it did on th 04 gt's, but the magna flow sounds good on the 05- It is what we are installing the most of on our 05 customer cars.
OU r website should be up in about a 1 or 2 and we will have sound clip for the 2005 mustang exhaust section...

Those JBA's sounded good. I want to keep the deep rumble, but I don't want it to be so loud that I get kicked out of my neighborhood. Hahaha. SO I think I will stick with the stock h-pipe, but then which gives a more deep throaty rumble the flowmasters, magna flows, JBA??

I had the Magnaflows - thought they sounded just a little deeper than stock.

changed to Magnapacks TODAY and I love them - not terribly loud but difinitely a nice rumble; however, the drone inside the cab is much louder around 2000 rpm. Can't wait until I put on my CAI - then it will rumble more.

Have the Magnaflow axle-backs. Can't comment on the Flowmasters. The Magnaflows, compared to stock, are a little louder and definitely more deeper "throat" sounding. Drone is not a problem and I do alot of highway driving.

had the flowmasters on the wife's gt and changed them for bassani. flowmasters create a lot of cabin drone
