What can I expect to pay have a dealer install a FRPP X-Pipe? The car is going in for an oil change next week and would like to add an X-pipe if the price is right.

I was told 80 bucks to have mine welded in at a muffler shop. I would guess it would take the dealer 1 hour or less to bolt yours on. Where are you located Jon?

Jon, it's a very easy install that can be done in your garage and under an hour. I did myself last year and TacoBill has my writeup under his How-To's

If the price is not bad I would recommend getting it welded in place. My X wasn't straight and never lined up well enough to get a good seat with the clamps. I was going to have it welded but got a good deal on a Magnaflow catted X and went with that.

Good luck.

If it was a simple bolt on piece then I would do it myself. However, since it involves cutting the h-pipe, I'd would rather have someone at the dealership do it as long as the price is right. BTW, how do you think the x-pipe will sound with Flows?

Not sure how it will sound with flows but I can tell you it didn't change the sound of my Stingers a whole lot. In the link I posted about (the writeup) there is a video clip of a before and after om my stingers. Stock H to the X pipe. There is a slight difference but the sound overall was the same, I imagine it would be the same with your flows.

Do you know if this would require a tune change? I am considering this option, I would think that it would not change it. Would your future water pump and UDP require an updated tune?

Adding an X-Pipe does not require a tune...

Water pump and UDP would require an updated tune I believe... (I am not 100%, maybe someone with those mods will chime in).

call and ask them how much. I am wondering what they will say. I wouldn't have mine welded on it takes away some flexibility that you will have with it bolted together.

I called earlier today to schedule the oil change. Spoke to the service rep and asked how much it would cost to install the FRPP X-Pipe. His response was a bit surprising. He said, to his knowledge, they have never done one. A bit odd since they are a FRPP dealership. I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can speak to a different person.

That doesn't really surprise me. We did our homework and found out what they were running on the Shelby GT's and then ordered up the parts.

I think I'll be trying this mod. Glad to hear that at least one guy didn't notice a difference in sound. I like the way my 5230-GTA's sound just they way they are.

Actually, it is probably good to hear that your dealer was honest enough to tell you they had never done that job. I plan to have a reputable exhaust specialist shop do mine. They're all set up to work on such things, and the cost is not that bad.

It is one of the eaiser items to put on a car imo. If you have ever used a hack saw before you can do this mod. Of course some sort of power saw would make things much quicker.

Don't pay dealer rates. Go to a muffler shop and offer then $50. They'll take it.

My dealer (yeah, the same one that wants $100 for a TPMS reprogram) wanted $300. The service advisor was BS'ing me about taking the headers off, it was a lot of work, blablabla.

Instead I went to a local muffler shop who did some good work for me on previous cars, and they installed it in a bit less than an hour for about 80 bucks. It's also welded on so there's no risk of leaks down the road.
