Thumbs down

Sorry for double post

Hi guys,

Just wanted to warn automatic transmission owners: my GT automatic was checked by a mechanic today and he noticed (red) oil leaking from the 2 (steel)hoses that cool the transmission (just in front of the gearbox) All he had to do was tighten the 2 clips, nuts , bolts - whatever. He told me that a refill of the oil wasn't necessary because the leakage was marginal.

Yeah, when I had my oil changed the other day I was told mine had a slight leak in the same spot.....might be a cause for concern.....I would advise ALL GT auto tranny owners to have theirs checked ASAP to avoid any major issue if it gets too far along.....

I had one of the fittings that goes into the trans. cooler work loose during a long trip in my '02 automatic GT and it dumped 4 quarts of fluid under the car before it was noticed.

The fitting took very little effort to release when it was tightened again.

The transmission and torque converter had to be replaced. :bang:

For what it's worth, I had a leaking radiator hose at the hose/thermostat housing end of the hose. It was one of those spring type clamps. I replaced it with a regular screw-type clamp and the problem went away.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a common problem across many of the fluid connectors. Problem is that guys like us are fixing it ourselves (or having our mechanics do it) so Ford isn't seening any QC data from us!

The big problem is there in no Dipstick to check or add fluid! Takes a special fill tank to add fluid!
