Hey folks, just wanted to share some footage I took this evening as Greg from Racer's Edge Tuning was tuning my car. We picked up another 24 rwhp based on our baseline run which put the total at 451 rwhp.

Greg's new shop is coming together nicely and should be seeing plenty of use. I hope to make it out for a bit on Saturday to spectate and meet some people.

Hope you guys dig the videos. Be patient, they might take a minute or two to load (roughly 6mb.) The video is a bit grainy as there wasn't much light, but you'll get the idea!

Says the guy who sprays nitrous into his internally stock motor...

But thanks for the concern. I hope I don't either.

We're not really pushing any limits right now as it is a daily driver. I would like to put a built bottom end in it at some point, but that's a hefty undertaking, so, we'll see...

just dont forget what happened to the guy who went through a few dyno runs and then blew the motor on his second pass at the track. The same thing can happen on the street once you go WOT a few times.

You are right at the limit of overstressing those rods with that boost and horsepower level. A safe tune is not going to save your motor if that rod wants to go.

Not all motors are built exactly the same but from what many of us have seen, 450rwhp is "reckless" territory. I suggest you start saving for a new block and rotating assembly right now (just in case).

For the handful of times I spray to achieve about 400rwhp a year when at the track im taking a much lower risk than your boost to a motor that wasnt built to take it in the first place.

Just take it easy out there since you obviously need this car for your daily drive.

462rwhp and 2 passes on the track and my engine went boom. No tunign issues, no lean issues, etc... just the rods can;t handle it very long. Good luck and be aware

Thanks for the info Dan and Bryan. I didn't know your motor blew up on you Bryan. I think I will have my tuner dial it back a bit since it is my daily driver. I rarely go WOT, but just the same, I don't want to risk anything.

What kind of power is safe? I was making 428 before, which felt just fine. Is that a bit more on the safe side or is it still pushing it?

Thanks,
Kris

Congrats Kris! I am glad you are happy
If you want I can pull some timing to lower the power a bit... I am very impressed with these Procharger kits... not bad for 8lbs on 91.

The car sounds awsome on the dyno. I'm sure driving it is even more impressive!

I'd rather put new rods in now instead of having to buy a whole new lower block.

I can't get it to download either. Getting a message saying that Internet Explorer can't find it or something like that.

And I really would like to see and hear it.

Nice set up.

Nice looking Mineral Grey! Sounds sweet! I'd probably dial it back down to 430 and be happy with it. Save up for some rods, then bump it back up and then some.

Anyone modifying an '05 GT for more performance should be aware of the engine's limits. After all, it's not Ford's responsibility to provide an engine for racing, so consequently, the three-valve 4.6 was designed for 300 hp, plus a stress safety margin. Steeda says the engine will live with 425 hp as long as timing and fuel is managed to prevent detonation. Anything more than 425 hp and "You're just waiting to buy a new engine," says Dario Orlando.

Looks like someone's rooting for my engine to blow up. Good job being a douche.

But yeah, the hp needs to be toned down. Both Greg and I were surprised at the numbers and had no plans of going very far over the 428 that it had. I have no problem going back to it. It was plenty of power.

Hey, I guess I'll just take comfort in knowing I can still walk all over the "Intake and Exhaust" guys.
