Hey all, I am finally getting my GT vert on Friday, and I am looking at a used SCT Xcal2. What would have to be done to ensure I can unlock the tuner so i can get some quality tunes from Doug? I know I need my calibration code, but are there any show stoppers i would need to have the original owner fix before I could use it? Appreciate any help

Darth

Most importantly, make sure he flashes back to the factory tune on his car!!

Is it a no go if he doesn't? He's already sold the car, but I haven't heard back from him yet.

If he didn't flash it back to stock, then I beleive the X2 is worthless to you. I think it's still married to his car. Anyone else agree/disagree?

I agree with your statement. unless he went back to stock with his sold car, it's no good to you, or anyone but the new owner of his car.

I think (know) they can be unlocked by SCT (for a fee)

This is correct. When I was first looking at the Tuners several months back, I had called Diablosport and SCT to find out a little about the tuners. I asked the question to both, and they both said that once you load a program into a car, it does a back-up of the factory tune of that car and the tuner is locked to that car only until you reload the factory tune back into that car. At that point, it can be used on another car, so it is essential that the tuner be 'unlocked' from the vehicle he had been using it with, or as someone already said, it will be worthless to you.

Thanks all, I decided against it since I don;t trust he did everything right. I'll keep looking for a good deal, hopefully I can pick one up after Christmas...that's right, I said Christmas.
