URGENT NOTICE SCT OWNERS - Critical Firmware Update Released

Firmware Release Version: 1.2.142
Importance: Critical
Action: Update all X3 / SF3 products immediately

SCT has released a new version of the X3 (PN: 3000) / SF3 (PN: 3015) device firmware - Version 1.2.142. This is a critical update that resolves issues found with prior versions of the X3 / SF3 firmware.

All SCT customers & dealers are urged to update their device(s) to this latest firmware revision using the SCT Auto Updater Software immediately. Dealers with X3 / SF3 devices in stock are urged to update their inventory to the firmware version 1.2.142 prior to selling these devices or should encourage the consumer to update the device prior to installing it on their vehicle.

FAQ's:

1) I don't want to update my device. Can't I just back date the firmware to resolve the issue?
No. Back dating the firmware may cause additional issues and will not resolve the issue.

2) My car / device are working fine. Should I update to the latest version?
Yes. This is a critical update and your device should be updated immediate to prevent any future issues.

3) Where do I get the SCT Auto Updater Software? How do I install it?
The Auto Updater Software is available on SCT's website or Click Here to Download It Now.
The following instructions will explain how to install the software and use it to update your device. Click Here to Download the Instructions Now.

This is taken DIRECTLY from SCT, I'm sure a few of you have gotten this email but I wanna make sure this information is available to all. Feel free to copy this message to any place you think it can help!

Thanks, Doug

I know you're passing this along from SCT, but is the issue limited to the device or does it affect the tune it has installed on my car? Should I revert back to stock then re-flash my custom tune?

The tuning, or custom tuning, will not be affected in the device. This is a new operating system that they are loading into the X-cal to resolve this latest issue.

I would ALWAYS return my car to stock before performing any updates to the tuning device.

Just let me know if I can help with anymore questions!

Thanks, Doug

This was an interesting experience for me. Saw this post, downloaded the updater software/drivers, installed the software/drivers on my desktop, and began the process of updating the firmware. Although SCT indicates that this process will take about 5 minutes, it took about 30 for me, with the Windows installation wizard popping up on more than one occasion. I had returned the car to stock (I had been running an 87 octane tune for about 2 years), all the while seeing the check charging system on the message center. Had me sweating bit. I put the car on a charger overnight, and today I drove the car with the stock tune to make user all was well and to fill the car with 93 octane in preparation for uploading a 93 octane tune for a change of pace. Got the check charging system, low fuel, and a couple of other messages on the display while the tune was uploading. The car started right up, however, and it runs great so far. I'm wondering if it would be useful to do this stuff with the car on a charger, just to be on the safe side. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm on my third battery, and it might be getting ready to give up the ghost!

Firmware updated okay but it won't update the tune files.

Tune Ver XP 1.9.0, wants to update to 2.032PFDUS. Does an error after apparently transferring all the files successfully (which takes a looong time).

I had SCT update my Firmware 2 weeks ago to the newest firmware.
My SCTX3 still locks up and wont return my car to stock unless I spend 45-11/2 hrs trying over and over I emailed SCT and Absolutely no replies. Im pretty ticked off and if they don't resolve this soon I will go back to Diablo and never look back, only reason I went with them is the popularity with tuners using it.
