Underdrive Pully Bad for Cooling?
I heard that if you put on a set of underdrive pulleys, that it will not only reduce the accessory draw on the engine, but also consequently reduce the cooling system as well.
That doesn't sound good.

Cooling flow from the Steeda UPD's still satisfy the Ford engineers (from what I read).
With that said, I haven't noticed any changes in my temp gauge.

But how much can the stock temp gage be trusted? Stock factory gages usually suck.
I remember someone saying that the stock oil pressure gage was so crappy that the car would have to suddenly lose all its oil for the gage to even flinch.

That is partially correct. The oil pressure gauge is only a dummy gauge. If there is at least 15lbs of oil pressure, the gauge reads normal. If there is less, it reads 0. Basically it is an on/off switch. Useless.
The coolant gauge is better, but is still not great. It is accurate up to about 160 I believe. After that, it reads the same up to like 230 or something. So 160-230 all reads the exact same on the gauge. Over that and the gauge will go up to show an overheat condition.

I have aftermarket gauges. My temp gauge is at 190-195 during the summer. The only time it goes higher is on the track, where it will sit at 220 by the end of a 25 minute session.

I have had 2 sets of UDP's and sold them both because I was concerned with heating problems and I didn't think it was worth the effort for the little performance gain.
I am in the process of installing shorty headers, and oil pressure and water temp gauges. After that is completed I will problaly do the pullies because I would like to get about every ounce of performance from my car with just bolt-on's and my friend who does most of the work on my car wants to install them. I really have never heard of any overheating issues with UDP's.

Don't discount the pullies and the EH2O pump gain when they are teamed together. The engine definitely spools up quicker and I believe they are worth 12-15 rwhp together. I know it about $600 bucks together but until your ready to go FI its easy HP.

After 6 months + I've experienced no cooling issues with my Steeda UDP's whatsoever ! As a matter of fact ? I also had them dyno tested by 3 different shops, in which the results produced 10-12 RWHP each time at WOT

I had mine on till I installed the S/C with no adverse effects.
I sold them to my friend who is still running them.
I'm now using the EH2O pump now.
