I tried to upload a short video of what I did and the car running but apparently it’s too long, I’ll try to upload the dyno pull of
when it last got tuned in Cali
Was just shooting for the center where they put the peak numbers. I’m not impressed by the curve at all as it’s not overlap with stock/baseline plus they didn’t do the AFR graft at the bottom of the sheet.
Yeah after I get the tune I’ll definitely post up what it’s doing here in the valley 👌
Anyone that claims high-flow cats requires a tune re-flash is full of B.S. Only long tube headers require a tune re-flash on 2005-10 S197 Mustangs. However, what American Muscle doesn't tell you is that high-flow cats will NOT pass OBDII emissions scan inspection and also require the rear 02 sensors being turned off in the tune in order to avoid getting a check engine light warning. To make matters even worse, thanks to the EPA's clear air act crackdown, tuning shops/vendors can no longer disable/turn off any monitors or devices associated with the OEM catalyst system and also have disclaimers on their websites that their custom preloaded tunes and parts purchased are NOT legal for use on any public roads, streets and highways, but legal for off-road use only. Therefore, it's recommended you keep all this in mind and know the risks involved. As for American Muscle? they've been linked to deceiving people into purchasing products by resorting to marketing hype B.S tactics, but when it comes to having actual real-world experience? they're unable to provide straight-forward answers to your concerns and questions. At any rate, there's obviously a very good reason for not including AM as a reputable tuner. That being said, IMO, you're on the right track by just getting by without tuning until having your cams installed and then having a reputable tuning shop custom dyno tune your car. Also note: you can also purchase an SCT X4 hand-held tuning device from the custom dyno tuning shop who can also download your custom dyno tune files onto the device if for any reason you need to re-flash your car back to the stock tune calibration.
Yeah I was looking at the H pipe with high flow cats and AM said I would need a tune so that’s why I’ve avoided them. I’m still new to all this stuff so Im afraid to go against “experts” advice. The O2 sensor couldn’t be turned off or whatever when the H pipe and cats are installed, right? That would require the tune to turn them off to the computer so it won’t throw codes?
but with that being said, I think I’ll just save up the lump some of cash and buy all the exhaust parts, cams, and have them installed and have my car dyno’d at the same time by the same people. I’m close to Detroit so I’m assuming there’s gotta be some good mustang tuners and shops around me.

Yes, your exactly spot on, as most tuning places will no longer take the risk when it comes to tampering with any of the OEM catalyst monitors which include turning off the rear 02 sensors out of fear of being fined/shut down by the EPA police thanks to stricter enforcement policies of the EPA clean air act being imposed upon the aftermarket tuning industry. Therefore, unless you can somehow locate a dyno tuning shop who might still be willing to turn off the rear 02 sensors for you in order to prevent any codes/check engine lights? it might be in your best interest to avoid upgrading to a high-flow catted H pipe.
Also to be perfectly honest with you, upgrading to high-flow cats does very little for improving airflow vs the stock cats which are actually far less restrictive when compared to the older exhaust systems from the previous 94-04 SN-95 generation. That being said, the only noticeable difference between the stock cats vs high-flow cats is mostly to increase sound, but very little when it comes down to actual performance gains

my problem is I’m more worried about sound right now than actual performance gains... lol. I appreciate all the info tho man, trying to learn as much as possible before I do anything.

the mufflers make the biggest difference to sound by far, so personally I would start there, and don't mess with the cats at all, unless you are prepared to deal with a lot of hassles down the road . . . if you keep the stock cats then the rear O2's can be left on and there should be no issues with emissions inspection

emissions inspection isn’t a concern, I just don’t want to throw any codes. I have a muffler delete already and really like the sound just want it a little louder.
mid I might add my 2 cents, try changing the tips in the back. I got my car with long tubes, off road X-pipe, no cats an no mufflers. The car was way to loud so I bought cheap pipe off line an welded it to the straight threw mufflers an boom, car is still loud but sounds way better. I have sound clips but can’t seem ya post em

Unfortunately, unless the rear 02 sensors are turned off in the tuning software? your going to end up throwing codes/getting a check engine light. You may however want to consider something like these 02 mini cat/spark plug anti-non fowlers that function like 02 simulators which place the rear 02 sensors further downstream from the exhaust manifold that supposedly prevents the ECM from throwing codes/check engine lights, otherwise, there's no other way of preventing the check engine lights from coming on and throwing codes.
As to how effective these 02 mini cats actually are? there's a person on another Mustang forum and also on this forum who has them on his 2007 GT that claims they do in fact work as intended. But also keep in mind, these devices are also illegal when installed on street driven vehicles.
That being said, here's the link below for the 02 mini-cat/spark plug anti-non fowlers, if interested

so do tips have an effect on the loudness/note of the exhaust? I was thinking about getting some black tips anyway.

More so in my case the straight threw mufflers changed the tone the most. But also depending on what you go to/from you can definitely change how loud the exhaust is! I have cams an my notes are darn near orgasmic
