Tune for stock 08 GT

Hello im new here. Purchased a Candy GT just 2wks ago. I was wondering what i can expect from a tune and some FR GTA's on a stock GT? What tune would be best and were to get it? I have an auto also.

Thanks

Welcome to TMS. Check with Doug at Bamachips for a tune. He does great work. As for FR GTA's, you will get some nice sound but wouldn't expect any performance gains.

The catback will make you sound faster and might even fool you into thinking its faster due to the awesome sound... and it ups the fun factor getting to hear the new exhaust.

+1 on Doug, gotta love that Bama!

Bamachips has deals on tuners and CAI combos, got my X3 and JLT combo for $550, plus 3 custom tune and great updates! Happy hunting!

Yea if you are going to bother getting a tune you will need a handheld tuner. Well if you are going to do that you might as well get it all packed together with a cold air intake. It will give you the most bang for the buck, not only performance wise but $$$ wise. I'd suggest looking into www.brenspeed.com , www.steeda.com , and www.bamachips.com

The most popular tuners you will see are Bamachips and Brenspeed.

Most will suggest Bamachips - you get 3 tunes. The ones to get are:

87 Performance
93 Torque
93 Race

The 93 Race and 93 Performance tunes are the same, but the Race tune has a little more throttle dialed into it, which these cars need (drive by wire throttle has a lot of lag in it). I have the 87 Perf, 93 Torque, and 93 Performance. I like the Torque tune the best, but with the throttle was a little snappier. Hence, why the Race tune is good for the 3rd tune.

The JLTII and Bama tunes are a great set up. All of the cold air kits perform about the same....exposed filter with a bigger MAF, so get the least expensive one with the least bends in it and a resonably sized MAF opening. These aren't 900hp cars...90mm is plenty big.
