TT install

I thought I would show what I am doing to upgrade my Stang. I am installing a new forged shortblock from MMR, MMR fuel rails, GT500 fuel pumps, PI torque converter, Bassani x-pipe and full gauge set with Innovate wideband and 6 Auto meter Nexus gauges. This is all to go with my TurboHorsepower twin turbo kit. Here is the latest update, the engine is back in the car and the wiring is about 80% finished. Here are a couple of shots of the current progress. You can see the way the wiring has been routed in the wheel well. The computer will be behind the firewall. My friend has done a great job with the wiring and it is going to end up as a very clean install.

Yes I’m shooting for 600-700 on pump gas with a conservative tune. I’m not sure where it will come in but it should be in that range. I will have a manual boost controller and can dial it up or down as needed.

Awesome setup.........Are you using the stock block???....Stock specs of internals just forged? I really want to pull my engine on mine and have all the internals replaced with forged of the same stock factory spec. Not sure where to buy forged rods and crank of stock s197 factory spec.

Yes I know the pumps and the stock fuel line will be the main restriction on the HP but I didn’t want to go the GT pump route and from everyone I have talked to it will be very hard to modify the GT500 pumps and basket with a larger line. That is why I say I don’t know what the HP will be it all depends on the fuel readings.

Thanks, Yes I am using a stock block and Manley pistons and I beam rods. The short block is MMR’s mod 1100.

Thats a great idea to have a manual boost dial. How does it work?

It's Shelby (and just about everything else)-stomping time! Keep the exterior stock-looking for laughs, LOL.

The boost controller basically fools the wastgates. The waste gates have a spring inside, 8#, 10# or whatever, that controls the boost based on a sensing line. The manual control goes in the lines before the gates and makes the gate think the boost is lower than it actually is. There are electronic controllers that allow you to have multiple levels of boost and can be controlled from the driver’s seat.

Here are the latest shots. We started to mock fit the turbo parts and so far everything is fitting well there are a few minor clearance problems because my car is an auto but nothing major. How do you guys think it will look when finished?

I think its gonna look as mean. I heard of racing turbos being stagard (sp?) so that one is set for low end power, and the other is set higher, for higher end but in the middle they both hit max boost around probably 4.5k on the stangs. Don't ask me how as I just heard of it, never seen it and have no knowledge of how to do it.

Are you going to attempt this?

No these are just single stage turbos. What your talking about requires some advanced engineering.

Here are a few shots of the current progress. Have run into some clearance problems after installing the radiator and I think we are going to change a few things around with the piping so this will cause a further delay in getting it finished. I think the wiring is very clean looking and rest of the engine compartment came out great. The fuse box is where the battery used to be and the computer is behind the firewall.
