TraileringvsDriving to strip?

I am planning on taking my car to the dragstrip for the first time on 9/14. The dragstrip is about 50mi. from home. I had planned on driving it ,but someone who seems knowledgeable says that by trailering it my times & speed would be greatly improved. Having never done this before, I'm interested in opinions on this.

Let it sit for 30 to 45 mins, or ice the intake, and driving it would be no issue. Also, the trailering comment would only be correct for the first run, after that the engine would be hot regardless.

I don't have a trailer and drive my car everywhere, everyday.

Same here... no trailer. I always drive it to the track, sometimes as much as 90 miles one-way. Mine usually cools down quite a bit just while waiting for tech to get finished.
