This thread will look just like the other thread in the Appearance section...
I need to know what you guys (and gals) think are the top 10 performance modifications for the 05+ Mustangs. (I don't mean specific brand/manufacturer, but more a specific part.) Any input would be much appreciated.

3. Headers
4. Shoes (Rims)
5. Louvers
6. CAI (Cold air intake kits)
7. Pipes (X or H. With or without cats)
8. Chin Spoilers
9. Ducktails and Spoilers

Not really urgent, but just so we know what's hot, and what is on the top of people's lists to get done.
Thanks for the input so far guys!

IMO...

1. CAI
2. Tune
3. Exhaust(full)
4. Pullies
5. Suspension
6. Shifter
7. Throttle Body (not done yet)
8. Driveshaft (not done yet)
9. Heads (not done yet)
10. Cams (not done yet)

Plus add strengthening the frame in there somewhere. That's my personal list. Nothing else, unless something comes out down the road.

The order I "should" have done it in:

1. CAI/TUNE
2. UDPs
3. Elect Water Pump
4. Suspension
5. Shifter (or adapter..we'll see how good it is)
6. Exhaust
7. Tires (wheels if didn't get 18")
8. Everything else under the sun

I learned my lesson...Power First, Aesthetics last. I did it backwards because I was hesitant to mess with the car. Oh well, that only lasted 4 months. LOL

1. SCT tuner and a dyno tune for the highest octane fuel you can readily buy (dyno after all mods are installed!). SCT works best with automatics as you can change shift points and line pressure for firm shifts.
2. 3.73 rear gear for automatics; 4.10 rear gear for manuals. Because OD on an auto is 0.75:1 while OD on a manual is 0.68:1
3. 62mm billet TB.
4. Good cold air kit (K&N, C&L, etc.)

Just these 3 mods will get you 280 hp to the wheels which is approximately 350 at the flywheel ! (they did it for mine anyway!) The gear change will make that torque a lot more noticeable as well!!

For more power you will need underdrive pullies and/or a supercharger (with bigger injectors), and/or serious internal mods (cams, heads, etc.). From what I have read on another forum, exhaust upgrades get you little power unless you go all the way and change out the entire exhaust system (long tube headers, X-pipe, no cats, etc.)

Somewhere I read that trying to go above 425hp (flywheel) = blown engine (busted rods, pistons and all!)!!

Hope this helps!

Mike

1. Tune/CAI
2. Body mods ( spoilers, stripes) or UD Pulleys
3. Shifters
4. Springs
5. Shock tower brace ( plus a arm brace)
6. LCA's
7 & 8 Rims and tires
9. Gauges
10. upgrade brakes (new rotors)

I am on number 9 right now. I am on back order on the LCA's but consider them a step accomplished. Mine are along the lines of price spent.

1. Wheels & Tires (looks + function)
2. CAI
3. Tune
4. Springs (looks + function)
5. 4.10 Gears (even in an auto)
6. Axel Back Exhaust (it's only sound, but it's a great sound)
7. UD Pullies (not many ponies, but some)
8. Headers (More sound & ponies)
9. Louvers, Chin Spoilers, ducktails (pure astetics)
10. Large breasted 19 year old blonde haired, blue eyed, asian girls who really should seek counseling for her sex addiction, but......maybe next year would be a better time. (strictly speaking this mod won't help the car's performance, but it should make mine very impressive)
