Tire Choices - Poll !!
Which Tire would you pick?
Narrowed my selection to three tires so far.
Looking for a nice combination of:
Performance, Ride Comfort, Tread Life and not too much road noise.
1. BridgeStone Potenza RE050A Pole Position
2. BFGoodrich g-Force T-A KDW 2
3. GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Then I have to decide what tire size to go with.
275/40/18 on all fours or 255/45/18 Front and 285/40/18 Rears on GT500 Wheels 18x9.5 Black Inserts.

I voted KDW's 'cause thats what I have. I have been completely satisfied with tire wear, grip, looks and price, however they are noisey. On the freeway they drown out my loud mouths, some pavement makes them roar in your head much like exhaust drone.
I may try something different when the time comes only because of road noise.
Don't get me wrong, for the money they are well worth it though.

You may also want to consider the Goodyear F1 Supercar's. They're $152 for 255/45/18's right now at TireRack with a $50 rebate.
275/40/18's are harder to find at a reasonble price. Sumitomo has a new tire, the HTZ 3, that has gotten good reviews and is $140ish. Cheaper than most and much better than the crappy version 1 and 2 of that tire.
I have some used KDW2's that I'll be getting in a few days so I'll comment on them then.
Has anyone used the Potenza RE050A?

Those things wear out pretty fast tho. The GS D3's will last much longer.
GS D3's get my vote! I love mine. Just not meant for cold weather and snow. In the rain you would swear it was dry out. Very quiet tire also with a high treadwear rating.
There is a 50/100 rebate on a set of F1's. 100 rebate if charged on a goodyear credit card and you get 12 months same as cash.

I've got the KDW2's and love the look, haven't really noticed the road noise was bad. Traction however is occationally a problem. Could be the roads around here, but I seem to fishtail all over the place.
255/45/18's on all 4 corners.

Same here, I did not notice much if any difference in noise from the stock KDWS to the KDW2's, and I drive all highway. I'm running a slightly different KDW2 than most. But they look bad*** on the car. The tread pattern is awesome. No traction problems. I used to chirp the KDWS all the time. Can't do it as easily with the KDW2's.

Nitto 555 & Nitto INVO
Anyone out there running these? Just wanted some feedback.
My baby is getting some new shoes late this month. GT500 wheels.
Going to be probably the only Windveil Blue GT500 running in SFLA
(Kendall Area)
My choices are coming down to these tires in this order.
1. GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3
* Rains alot in SFLA and got some nice reviews on tirerack.
Qty 4 - 275/40/18
2. Nitto 555
Qty 2 - 255/45/18
Qty 2 - 295/45/18
3. Nitto INVO
Qty 4 - 275/40/18
4. BridgeStone Potenza RE050A Pole Position
* Seems like a nice street tire - little road noise. Sidewall Flex ??
Qty 4 - 275/40/18
5. BFGoodrich g-Force T-A KDW 2
* Concerned about road noise.
Qty 2 - 255/45/18

Option 5 is what I'm running. The tire noise will be dependant on the pavement, ofcourse, and your personal tollerance. Day to day driving I don't notice them, it's on grooved pavement they can get unbarable.

Horsepower ...
All stock for now - upgrading tires / brakes for supercharger later.
Mostly looking for a nice street tire / ride comfort (for wife & kids) and
something with some teeth for ocasional track time.

I have been running the F1 GS-D3 on my SN-95 for a while and can't wait to get a set on my 2007 GT (the BFG KDWS that come with the 18" upgrade are hardly adequate... and that's understatement!!). The F1's are smooth, quiet, and have a tremendous level of grip ... wet or dry.

Goodyear Tires in Car & Driver
So far I've been impressed with reviews and remarks from other people who have these tires. Looks like I am going to purchase these tires.
Thanks for the input - everyone !
Also decided on going with 275/40/18's on all fours.
Traction & Treadwear were important factors along with road noise.
(see spreadsheet) Not to metion Project Source Horse is running them as well.
