Besides replacing the throttle body, what else can I do to improve the existing throttle respnse? By "existing" I mean without adding a forced induction system. For now I want to keep it Naturally Aspirated.

you can install the Jet chip for the 05.I had it in mine to try it out and it did help the throttle response. Not a huge gain in power, but drivability was better and the throttle response was definately crisper!

Yeah, I understand that I am not going to gain any power but I want to better the power that is already there.

Get the JET Throttle Body Spacer, that def Inproves your throttle response greatly!!!!!! Also increased your gas mileage, a lil more horsepower and about 12 lbs of torque!

the next thing you can do is go with an SCT Tuner or Diablo Predator Tuner, they will sure boost the throttle response.

You're going to get some that swear on Diablo and some for SCT. Depends on which one your local tune shop supports I would say.

Personally I say SCT of course.

I've got the Diablo (Predator), JET Throttle Body Spacer, and a C&L CAI w/tune. . . BUT . . . there's still a lag (Freakin Automatics) :bang:

Strange. Did you have the Diablo custom tuned or canned. Mine is so negligible you can't hardly tell.

Originally I loaded the tune that came with it (the U7140), then when I bought the C&L CAI, I downloaded the appropiate tune (ID) from Diablo for it and installed that one.

I've always wondered if when I loaded the C&L custom tune, if I had lost some of the original Predator Perf tune.

What I am thinking is once I install CAI / Pulleys / and Throttle Body then I will tune it. Now comparitively speaking I would end up with a similar result using either SCT or Diablo, RIGHT?

In all honesty, I see more people using SCT on the new 05 Mustangs than Diablo, seems SCT has more positive customer feedback from just about any tuner.

I had the exact same set-up... but I kept the automatic, and got rid of the Predator. Switched to an excellent torque management X2 tune from Doug... wowzers. Night and day.

Don,

What exactly would I need to do (and buy) to set mine up like yours?

Could you spare some time to give me details over PM ?

I just told Doug what my mods were, and he sold me the X2 complete with 4 tunes. Two of them are for my 275/50-17 street tires (a Performance tune and a Torque Mgmt tune), and the other two are for 275/40-17 drag radials. I haven't even tried the drag radial tunes yet (the tires arrive this week).
