Throttle Lag returning?
#1
I have had the JLT CAI installed with the 93 octane DTP tune for over a week and I've noticed that the throttle lag is coming back with a vengeance. It was great at first. Has anyone else noticed this?
I wonder if the computer in the '05 is slowly reverting itself back
Anyone have any suggestions who's good with the Predator tuner?
Thanks.

Mark this date. 5/23/05 is when your computer became "self-aware". It will now drive into a wall to rid itself from it's pesky, software modding occupant. Good luck mang.
Oh...i have no clue as to why it's doing that.

I have the C&L CAI with special 93 Octane tune, and it was like gangbusters when first installed. From time to time though, I'll step on the gas, and for an instant......nothing, then bam! Off it goes.
I called C&L about this, they didn't have a clue, then tried calling Diablosport on two occasions without getting through to anyone, and posted here, with no luck.
I'm starting to think things like bad batches of gas, computer software hiccups, new MAC exhaust causing a blip EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE SAYS IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO.

The guys below you were alot of help weren't they. :nono: Check out my throttle sticking thread. I thought all the throttle issues with the Predator tune were fixed. I did not add in my thread that I am not impressed with the throttle responce after installing the Predator tune. Does not seem any better than stock to me. Still seems disconnected to me, if you know what I mean. Dysan, what type of transmission do you have??

I got this throttle lag on my 05 GT automatic.
I hate it.
I even have a JLT CAI SCT tune.
When you need the acceleration the most, the computer takes a nap for a second or two - i.e., passing situations.
I know what you mean. You floor the pedal, nothing for two seconds, and then it takes off. It's most annoying.
May be we're taking about different things but it basically boils down to acceleration lag.

Well I have had the JLT CAI/Predaotr setup for some time now and I have not had any issues with this; however, I did notice a throttle lag come back (thought I did). Consequently, I just reflashed it and it's been running like a champ since.
Onething that happened today that really freaked me out was my car went into "fail safe mode". Talk about going crazy. I finally popped the hood and noticed my filter came off the JLT (that filter is hard to keep on). Anyways everything is gooooooooood now.

PS- I know this still doesn't help but thought I'd add something.

I had this throttle lag BEFORE I had the JLT CAI.
It has nothing to do with JLT CAI which is a fine product.
Oh yea, dab some Loctite on the JLT filter clamp screws and the MAF screws. The vibration loosens them. Got my Loctite 242 blue for about $6 at Pepboys.

I think we all realize this is a tuner problem ,not a CAI issue.
good tips with the locktite.I will do that.

The is not going to help much either, and i dont know much about the actual tune settings themselves...but it seems like the tune didnt turn off the adaptive transmission computing, and the computer is relearning its shifting information.
I have the C&L SCT tune and no problems so far, but I'm going to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the info.

Mine has loosened several times. Each time I retightened it.
The filter did not come off but it was barely hanging on to the end of the tube - it can't fall off. The hose clamp at the other end of the tube also loosens on my JLT CAI, but not as much. The vibration causes it to loosen. The clamp on the throttle body does not loosen much - if at all.
Just add some Loctite or Permatex threadlocker and it should be fine.

I have noticed it. My car is stock except for the Mac axle backs. My guess is the computer is adjusting timing and fuel curve to try and match varying temps. I notice it more when it is hot out. First thing in the morning not so much.

throttle lag is there stock. It is throttle by wire, sensor etc. Not a cable like the good old days. I have heard of most of the tunes getting rid of this delay in accelleration after flooring etc. I hear good things about alternative auto in another posting etc. for automatic programming. They sell the c&l and tuners with there program specifically for automatic and they have some for manual as well. But I have heard nothing but good about them. I have an automatic, and when i decide to mess with that stuff I am sure I will give them a call. Good luck, try redownloading tune, like one mentioned.

Did you disconnect your battery for any reason??? I did this on my 03 Cobra and had to reflash the computer afterwards. I would just try reflashing the ECU and then drive the car and see if that doesn't cure the problem. If it's still there then I would contact DTP and let them know what's going on. It may be some thing that's easily fixed with a new tune.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I guess I forgot to turn on the email notification for the thread and had no idea there were so many replies. My Gt is a manual trans and I have not disconnected the battery since installing the CAI & tuning it. I guess I will re-flash tomorrow and see.
Should I just reflash the same tune or put it back to stock, then flash the 93 octane tune back?
Thanks again.
