Hey guys, i'm thinking of upgrading my exhaust on my auto gt. However I want to be sure I get the best sound. One of my friends drive a pretty much stock chevy silverado with the 4.8 I beleive engine. He put a flowmaster super 40 and it sounds like some serious muscle truck. I like the sounds you hear like on a 70's mustang or camaro. I really don't like the racey light hum sound or high pitched vroom sound. I like the gurgly, rough sound. In later model year cars (mid 90's and and above) I've noticed it more in camaro's than mustang's. Any why do you guys suggest I do to achieve that sound?

 

American Thunder Axle back Flowmasters have just what you are looking for. They were designed specifically for the 05-06 mustang and are very similar to the Flo 40s your friend has.

 

I 2nd the Flowmasters. IF the Flowmasters themselves are not good enough for you, get headers and an off road H or X pipe too.

 

Remove the mufflers add slp loudmouths and make your friend jealous.

Flows are definitely the way to go if you want a deep muscle car sound. However, I've noticed that if you take out the cats and go with an off-road x-pipe or pro chamber setup with the Flows....they seem to make a high pitched note for like a second or two at around 2,500 RPMS. Its kind of annoying, but if you keep the stock h-pipe with the cats...the Flowmaster American Thunders sound killer!
I am waiting to get my off-road h-pipe from Brent at brenspeed.com, and hopefully that will alleviate some of the problems those of us with flows and an off-road setup are having.

 

Flowmasters, I 4th or 5th that vote!, lol

 

Flowmasters are a little too rough for my tastes. I think the exhaust tone should be more about quality than quantity. I'll get some audio of my setup (JBA Titanium Ceramic-Coated Shorty Headers and Magnaflow Cat-Back) tonight or tomorrow.

 

Another vote for the Flowmasters, I don't find them to be just loud. They have a nice rumble to me.

I have the American Thunder Kit from Flowmaster and love it.

i have the jba mufflers and they sound great not that i dont like the flowmasters but all my other cars have them and i wanted somthing diffrent...got bored of the flowmaster sound....

 

Flowmasters add a nice low rumble and they sound very good. I have been very pleased with them.

SLP Loudmouths have that deep rumbly old muscle car sound. They are deep, throaty, and they "burble". I suggest you watch the videos in the Sticky Thread.
