I believe I will be in the market for a new clutch soon. My wife is racing in the NMRA race this weekend at Kansas City and if it makes it through that it should make it until fall. For the past 2 months I have noticed a prominent odor of clutch slippage during and after each pass. The car's performance has been very consistent but who knows how many 5500-6000 rpm launches with slicks you can get. I have never changed a clutch but I expect to do this when I pull the motor/trans for a stroker short block change this fall in preparation for a supercharger.
If you guys don't mind let me know your experiences, I am aware that there are RAM and SPEC clutches available and I have talked with their reps at races but I would like down to earth experiences. Thanks!

Hey Derek....I have the RAM and do like it. At first it's very on/off. I mean it was trying to grab at every position of the clutch being depressed For me, no problem. It took my wife a few days to get used to it. At first, she hated it. Now, she sees it no different than the stock clutch. On the stoke clutch, it is very easy to feather the clutch. There isn't any feathering with this clutch. It hits hard. I've had numerous 6000 launches and not a single issue. The only thing I would do different is an aluminum flywheel.

I honestly don't know. I've never done one, but would love too. I had this one done by a shop due to time restraints and my impatience. I'm sure there are a few tricks to know.

I have changed several clutches through the years(have not changed the one on my 05 yet but I will before long). I actually just changed the clutch in my daughters F150 4x4 yesterday. They are alot of work but not hard to do. If you have good basic automotive knowledge you can do it. You will need a good jack, stands, and a service manual would not hurt. It also helps to have a friend to help. Plan for 5+ hours.

Clutch Is very diferent in the 05.No bellhousing.Transmission is all one unit.
