I have a video i took but it's way too long and I lost the editing program in my hard drive reformat. I will try and post it soon.

No, they don't sound like that by themself. The JBA website recording has long tube headers and an offroad midpipe as well, says so below the video player box.

Here's my JBA axleback set when my car was stock, first mod:

Hatchman's youtube video captures the sound perfectly. I've got them as well, and love them. I painted mine black to make them disappear....it worked. Go for it, you won't be sorry!

I wish they had 4" double wall tips and where all stainless, but I like them and wouldn't pay to swap them out. Pretty quite in the cabin on road trips, no drone, and sound great when you get on them. Could be a tad louder and deeper, but pretty happy with them.

For those that have heard both in person, how do they compare to FRPP GTA's?

Similar, but different. Similar in that they are both a little louder, deeper, and better sounding than stock. They both do no drone at any RPM. They are both good to travel with, not to loud on the freeway, but sound really good when you open them up.

The FRPP GTA's look better with the 4" dual wall tips, IMO, the JBA's are smaller 3" slant cut rolled tips, but would look a lot better if they were 3.5" or 4".

The JBA's are also aluminized steel, but they are rusting already. Overall, they don't appear to have quite as good fit and finish of the FRPP GTA's.

I'm happy with the JBA's, and I'm not going to swap out just yet, but if I did it again, I would have gotten the FRPP GTA's.

The sound is hard to define, I'd have to have them side by side at the same time, which I haven't done, but they are similar.

JBA's also come in stainless for a few $$ more.

It's to bad yours are rusting a bit Hatchman, do you drive your car through the winter? I don't know where you are from though - I store my car through our relatively harsh winter and have been fortunate, I suppose, not to have any rusting whatsoever. Were I to do it again, I would likely get stainless, more for the peace of mind then for any hassles I've faced.

Thus far I have had no quality, fit, finish, rusting issues with mine, and they are aluminized. Personally, I think that 4" tips, esp with rolled edges, are obnoxious on S197s...they look out of place to me. That's part of the reason I also like the JBAs as they look better then stock but don't look ridiculously out of place (my opinion of course).

Thanks Brad.

I too think the GTA's dual wall tips look better. I'm really surprised the JBA's aren't at least 3.5" so they are a little more dif from stock. I'm concerned that the GTA's won't be loud enough but I don't want drone.
