Guys and girls for the past two days I have been thinking of cancling my order for the Vortech and going with a NX system and 4:30's for the stang (125hp wet shot). I am really worried about blowing this engine and yes I know you can do it with either of the two, but the constant stress of a blower on the internals is what I am having a very hard time on, plus my gas mileage with a blower will go out the window. i think the combo I want is killer, but having a supercharger under that hood makes me

Thoughts?

I agree with don_w.Also when getting into mods make sure your prepaired to pay the price of mechanical failure. If your belly grumbles and ya get gas thinking about blowing up your motor with an Vortech go with the juice.....you'll digest it alot better.

Dont be suckered in by the nitrous guys!! LOL!! I cant believe this.. If they could get a blower they would drop the nitrous in a heartbeat.. LOL!!

Comon Torrence, Vortech needs you! We will rule the Mustang World with Vortechs under the hood.. LOL!!

Dont be persuaded by Cleveland and MikeM.. They are both great guys, but they are trying to scare you.. They know once you get the Vortech and some slicks, they dont have a chance in the world of catching you!! You'll be gone!!

Be a man and get blown.. Or be a ---- and get smoked, its up to you!!

WOOOOF...WOOOOF Vortech baby!!

I will be racing Cleveland Someday... He lives in Sacramento, and I live in San Jose.. We are gonna meet up at the track someday, and all his talk about Nitrous will get him smoked by a V6! WOOOF...WOOOF!!!!

I'm comin to get you this summer Cleveland! you can run but you cant hide... Everyone else lives thousands of miles apart.. But I'm like down the street from you, so someday this summer we will do this!!

My setup has been to 11.65ET already.. Dont think you will get off easy cause I am a V6..!!

My RODS are made of Forged Steel, and my Block is Cast Iron! You will need to push the Aluminum 4.6L with Powdered Coated rods to the limit to beat me to the traps! Better be squeezin hard Danny Boy!!

Get a Roushcharger with an 'old timey' Eaton roots-type. It comes with the industry's only 3yr/36k mile warranty (if installed by a certified type shop). MM&FF got 120 rwhp from theirs, although the car did dyno a tad weak pre-blower.

I'd only want power on a stock block for just racing so I'd get nitrous. If I had money to build my bottom end I would get a turbo.

i would get the blower without blinking an eye. $%&# gas milage, you gotta pay to play as don says......

the whine of the blower is enough to sell me and if i had enough, i would do it in a second. I would rather have a mild blower tune with modest boost then a 125 shot.

I guess it all boils down to what are you going to do with your car. How you drive it? Do you go to the track?

I don't get to go to the track since i work nights now, I got a ticket which means I can't go very fast because insurance. I think I know which way is best.

I really want the blower, but it doesn't seem right, right now anyway.

Jordan, how are those 4:30's?

Good idea, but the labor would break me (since it would be a ford certified dealer)

eh, I cant say for sure that I'll ever put a blower between the towers of my 05 cause Im just addicted to nitrous. My next car will be forced induction though but that may just be an Mitsu Evo.

Believe me, when I finally have an oppurtunity to return to the track and work doesnt get in the way again everybody will know, including you MSP.

There is still a lot of time and a lot of money to be spent between now and then, I wont be happy if I dont get kicked off the track.

Torrence, I totally LOVE my 4.30s. wouldnt trade em for the world. some people say they are too steep for a blower, and 4.10s would be better..... but i dunno, some people told me they would be too steep for my 75 miles daily commute, most of which is highway.... but they arent.......

The the V2 Supercharger Oil cooler, and I'll be ready before the end of this month.. But I know you may need some more time, so PM me when your ready to go.. If not this month then let me know.. I'll be ready to run sometime this month.. I am going to run on street tires first, so I can gauge the Drag radials later.. I will also bring one of my buddies who owns a 68 Camaro with a 383 Stroker with AFR Heads and a sick CAM making 700Ft lbs. of TQ normally aspirated.. So when we come to town, we're taking some Sacto boys down!! LOL!!

I wish I could have the opportunity to visit the track more often than like once every 6-8 months but life does get in the way.

I can only predict that I will break the 11.50 legal wall (cage required <that) but thats with everything working the way I hope for. I cant guarantee it with what I have, which isnt much IMO, but I do have a few things going for me in order to reach that goal.

I believe my fuel system upgrades has helped prevent the fuel starvation others have seen at the back stretch of the 1320 and at higher revolutions. I have plenty length of dedicated lines feeding the fuel solenoid and larger fuel rails holding reserves at the injector. Though, at the 125 shot level its obvious to see the low lean spike for very little time immediately after activation, this is what you have to watch out for. The stability of the tune is critical and I have a great tuner at my disposal to make sure everything is in check.

Instead of the various separate electronics that provide throttle position and rpm sensing I opted for the FJO controller. This device covers the first two safety devices and also throws in the progressive controller to pulse the solenoids for % based output based on rpm or time. It may not be the best but I highly recommend its type for anybody getting serious about nitrous or just wants that extra protection.

I also suggest adding in some race fuel for when you do decide to run on the juice or turn back the timing for a 2nd tune. My NA tune doubles as a nitrous tune but thats thanks to John @ AlteredSpeed, my tuner. Make sure you are running a colder HT0 plug too over the 75 or 100 shot, depending on brand of course.

I am biased towards NX products but dont let that sway your decision, thats is yours and yours alone. I am the one of like 1 or 2 who have something other than Zex. I just wanted something a bit more DIY and something I believed to be "good enough" for my future changes.

I have had far more time to tinker with this and that and very little track time, it kinda hurts that I am not running with the rest of the peeps around here and their times and speeds. Someday I will catch up, hopefully more, for all that labor of love of tinkering with my poo.

Im not against the Forced Induction crowd but I am for anybody wanting to venture into that darkside of nitrous users. I apoligize that I dont constantly welcome people into their new blowers or hairdryers but the people that do also dont welcome others who wish to use nitrous.

eh, go play.

stick with the blower man and run less boost for now. go with 5psi or 6psi for now untill you have money to build up the bottom end. either way you go you are forcing the engine to deal with more stress than it was originally designed to. dont forget the kenne bell at least has the bypass valve so you can run 0 boost at any time you want.

Well, not to start anything but....

Was at LACR on Sunday, and I was running more than a 1/2 second faster than 2 other s/c 05's and one s/c Mach 1. All three were running normal boost levels (I think the most was 8psi). Now, to be fair, there was one cobra running 21 psi that was much, much faster then I was...but fact is I regard the 125 hp level as pretty reliable and consistent (I ran a 12.485 and a 12.509 with a DA of 5070, track 2710 in elev).

If you do go N20, I would consider 4.10's vs 4.30's, even if you run a 28 tall tire. I run n20 right out of the hole and I am shifting into fourth just before the 1/8 mile mark. You might be too high in the rpm level, especially if you are at 115 or so.....

You can install the n20 system yourself, save some money, and go with the s/c or turbo when you get the forged bottom end down the road. And while the n20 is off, your car will drive like its stock, kinda like having best of both worlds. And lastly, if I had the money I would go turbo, but I don't, so nitrous it is....just my .02.

Its been a while since running nitrous on the track but I know Im going to put those 6200-6300rpm shift points to good use with my 4:10 gears. The 28" tall tires will certainly help taching out 4th all the way. The nitrous cuts out at 6300rpm due to my window trigger so I dont mind running through the traps above the rpm as long as the nitrous is off.
