Well, I've finally got around to getting a CAI for Rosie.

I'll let The Airaid site provide the details for those wanting to know exactly how they achieve results without a tune, and how it's a convertible system allowing for big air when/if needed or desired.

Now before the numbers debate begins on their dyno graphs, let me just say that my Butt Dyno 3000 says their not far off. You'll notice the initial baseline numbers seem low even for an auto, and while I certainly wasn't there, I do know that all the testing took place over the summer here in the Valley of Death....so I wouldn't be surprised if the ambiant air temp in the shop was 110-120 degrees. That could sure account for the low baselines.

I went with this unit based on price and the convertible system they employed. I was able to nab this unit at $227 through my local Ford parts guy. The company is also local. I don't know of anybody actually stocking this unit yet, and they are not known for building intakes for cars at all, in fact they're mostly in the Diesel/Big Truck business. Retail price is guesstimated to be $360, but if you are interested, I'd contact Airaid directly to find out where you might find one, and what they're actually going to sell for.

Besides thier test vehicle, I'm probably the first one the street with this setup.

I like being different

For more install details, I've a another writeup at you know where

That is one of the better looking intakes out IMHO. Very nice. Have you seen any independent dyno results? I'm more interested in verifying the A/F ratio than the HP numbers. I really like the idea that you can start off w/ a stock tune, then convert it as your needs change.

Ummm, I guess nobody told ya. They've been pulled, no reason, no idea when or if a CAI is coming out at all now from Motorsports, just passing on what I've heard through my Motorsports dealer. If you check the site (crappy as it is) it's gone.

Something must have went wrong with the relationship with S&B

looks sweet

I really like the idea with the venturi thing so you can run it with a bone stock tune, then take it out when it is time to custom tune.

Would've been perfect for me 6 months ago. I bought the JLT intake back in March, still in a box, I wanted to wait to get some mileage on my car before I flashed the computer in case any problems arose (first year of model change).

Anyways, I finally got my predator and in she goes this weekend.

I must say the Airaid looks pretty darn good though.

I wonder what kind of #'s that thing produces with the venturi insert removed w/ a custom tune?

At least it's smooth on the outside and eaiser to wipe down than the stocker!

Nope, but I'm sure if this thing gets on the radar someone will soon.

It's working fine with my existing Predator tune, and I figured it would if it maintains the same flow through the venturi.

Without the venturi, I would imagine numbers pretty much in the range of the JLT. The inlet is the same size without it.

I won't find out until the spring. That's when I'll get a custom tune done with headers and a new X/H-pipe. Still seeing what Bassani is coming out with on the header front.

Wow, this sounds like a great alternative to those looking for a CAI that doesn't require a tune. The gain they claim is comparable to K&N, however it definately looks better.

How does your exhaust sound with it?

I had to go to luch to listen to it
Yup, it growls a little more, on deceleration it burbles much more than it was.

I like burble

Well I got mine from the same place as Sixtysix did, and while installing I stripped out the bolt from the MAF sensor. I proably overtightened it. So I called Airaid and their support staff was excellent. He called me back in less than 5 minutes with part in hand, so I took the trip to the company. (Made locally in good ol AZ) They had the part at the front desk, and the gentelman I spoke with came up to talk to me for a minute, and I was on my way. Just finshed installing and took her out for a short spin. I will wait for a few days for the computer to adjust, but the exhaust(Flowmasters) is deeper, with a little intake whistle, and the torque feels stronger. So far so good, and it looks great.
