Wow, thanks for the QUICK responses, Tim!!!

You know, while I was... "out of town"... this past year, I bought a 2008 Bullitt steering wheel and a (matching) leather-gripped emergency brake; maybe I should just leave well enough alone if I get this shifter.

I understand more clearly now about the functioning of the shifter; makes sense. I just hope those indicator lights are BRIGHT... because, downshifting and upshifting, a person would be relying on (being able to see) them to make his shift, in and out of curves/corners and such. On a bright day... well, like I said, I sure hope they're bright or otherwise clearly visible.

Thanks, Tim.

I hear that they are LED and nice and bright, but have not been able to confirm yet.

I'm trying to see if I can get some time on a lift somewhere so I can get good pictures.

To answer your question about drive, it is my understanding that you can just leave it there. The shifter only goes into "manual" when you ratchet to 3, 2, or 1 and even then the PCM is going to prevent you from damaging the transmission.

getting to the linkage is no problem, just jack up the drivers side pretty far, and you can reach it there, there is the linkage and also another attachment at the end of the stock bracket. the linkage is where it connects to the shifter has a slide piece the you push up then it will pop off the shifter, the end part has two clips, a small screwdriver is all that is needed to get it loose

Great job on the install !!!!!

I had really hoped for a polished or chromed unit and at the suggested price they could have afforded it. Plus I was liking the OD button on the shifter as I use mine on the stock shifter, seems a bit odd to have to touch the base but oh well.
I just wonder what B&M will do now????

If you really need LEDs to tell you what gear you are in then hang it up. Do you get LEDs telling you what gear you are in with a manual?

I never really pay much attention to the gear indicator either (stock or with the TCI) as I pretty easily keep track of the gears in my head based on shifting and RPMs (just like when I drive a stick).

Since a couple of folks have expressed concerns I have been looking at them more to gauge visibility. I can report that they are very bright, and easily visible during daylight hours. The only problem I have noticed viewing them is when they are subjected to direct sunlight, which does not happen often given the position o the shifter in the car.

Has anyone installed an outside overdrive button on the shift handle itself?

Ya they are very bright. Cant miss them. Buttttt if someone is looking down at the light ( especially in a corner) then they should just buy a golf cart. Thats an easy win for the person racing against someone looking at a light. Orrrr is someone under the impression that shift lights are built in? Bad spot even if possible
