So if the overdrive button is on the side above the P, what are the buttons on each side of the handle for? Makes no sense to have them if they are not in use.

well to me it looks like the over drive button is still on the right side and that is a overdrive light..... and the left button still lets you select the gear..... unless those are dummy buttons for looks

OK guys I bit.

The factory shifter is crap, and one of the car's worst features IMHO. My car has only 20K on it and already the paint is wearing away and the black plastic track is all scratched up. It even sounds cheap. I also have a horrible habit of hitting neutral when slamming the thing into drive (after manually downshifting to be in the right gear for say, a nice pull against Dad's CTS). I figure it’s only a matter of time before I get all the way to reverse and leave the transmission on the road!

Granted the thing costs an arm and a leg, but for a high quality and unique looking shifter (great at shows) that provides some assurance I won't dump my tranny, I'm all over it. I think it will really bring some fun to the car clicking through the gears for some casual driving. There’s also the stick/auto factor, no one ever gives you crap for having an automatic if they see a drag shifter in the car!

Is it worth $500? I don’t know. Were the chrome valve covers worth $400? Was the little $30 MGW cigarette lighter plug worth it? Let’s not start this discussion, before we realize how sick we all are for even considering it in the first place (you’re here reading the thread too).

seriously doubt it, rachet shifters are meant to upshift on the dragstrip

I'll be letting everyone know for sure in about a week.

We've got that on a '56 Chevy, I dont really consider it a ratchet shifter though, because think about it, a ratchet only moves one way (while in use, you can change direction, but not both at once), as does a normal ratchet shifter. I do like the B&M though, it's a great shifter

Thanks, I appreciate it. I knew the B&M one did (or has been reported as such).

Looking forward to your thoughts/impressions on the TCI unit... good luck with the installation.

Wow ... nice. I am glad to see it came with the leather boot rather than the plastic version they were showing.

Doug, I know it ratchets up, but I meant does it ratchet down... is this what you're saying, you can downshift with the ratchet feature?

Also looks like the original design of the locking lever changed as well from the double holed (knuckle looking) style to something that looks much sleeker.

For auto owners, this is going to be a nice upgrade!
