Ok i might buy this from seeing it but can someone please tell me how this things works. How do i just go from Park to Drive, or Park to Rev then to Drive then back to Rev. I would hate to have this shifter if i had to go through hundreds of gear changes or moves so i can get out of my driveway.

You simply pull back on the lever in front of the shifter to remove it from park and it will normally go down through Reverse, Neutral, and into Drive, then from there it will ratchet down each gear from 3rd to 1st and once you are in first it will ratchet up to Drive. Once you are in Drive you will have to pull the lever back again, the one in front of the shifter, to get it to go into reverse and neutral.

I'd install this one but out of the five I ordered I only received one and as always the customer comes first. I'm sure Tim will give us the complete information once he receives it.

Thanks, Doug.

You can all expect a TacoBill style write up for the shifter which will include my impressions on the quality, performance, and installation of the unit. I'll be creating a new thread and will be answering any questions anyone might have, along with a plug for Doug because his customer service is second to none!

Would that be just like the buttons on the side of the normal automatic shifter?

I think one is for the O/D, and the other is not a button at all, just the handle cut out to look symmetrical.

Gotcha. If I had an automatic I would be all over this. It looks a lot similar to the auto shifter in my '68 to be honest.

There is some new information and pictures up on TCIs web site in the 2009 product guide. I wonder if it comes with that nice trim ring pictured? Here's a link to the guide, some pictures, and the text that goes along with it: http://www.tciauto.com/WhatsNew/Files/tci999npb09.pdf

Ford 5R55S StreetFighter® Ratchet Shifter
'05-'09 3V 4.6L Mustangs
The '05-'09 Ford Mustang GT is the hottest late model performance
vehicle on the market, however the stock shifter has some drawbacks
when it comes to serious street/strip performance. The new
TCI® StreetFighter® Ratchet Shifter provides a positive stop shifting
action allowing you to manually speed shift without fear of hanging
between gears or missing gears all together. Despite being built
for performance, this new shifter also has an equally impressive billet
show-inspired appearance that makes it at home on the track or
cruising through town. The StreetFighter® Ratchet Shifter is a perfect
fit in the S197 Ford Mustang console without modification to your interior
or the factory Ford 5R55S transmission. This shifter also utilizes
the factory shift cable to further simplify the installation and comes
complete with a lighted gear indicator for accurate gear selection.

• Dependable ratchet shifter is a “must have” upgrade for
street/strip Mustangs
• Positive stop action allows manual “speed shifting” without
fear of mis-shifts
• Fits '05-'09 Ford Mustang GT console & transmission without
modifications
• NHRA/IHRA reverse lock-out rule compliant

Heres a video I found from last year as well: http://www.revver.com/video/952062/t...o-at-pri-2007/

Which shifter is the "production" one that's out now? The one pictured in the PDF is not the same one pictured at the beginning of this thread.

it is the same shifter that is in this thread, look at post #32. That is what he pulled from the box.

You have to blame Doug for that, he kept it an extra day to drool!

It shipped on Thursday. live in Texas and he is in Alabama so I expect it to take 2-3 days to arrive. Assuming it makes it before Christmas I'll be able to install it next weekend, so you can expect to see a post around that time.

I found out the Chrome trim ring is not included. It was a one off for the product marketing photoshoot. It sold on eBay (item# 120338693394) just a couple weeks ago. Here are the shots from the listing, I'm going to email the guy and see if he has any more available.

My dad has a automatic v6. I assume that this thing will not work on a v6.
