TCI AUTO's new GT Automatic Rachet Shifter, shown in SEMA
Seriously who gives a flying funk about this stupid shifter? It is a 450 piece of bling that will do nothing for your cars performance. I am tire of hearing about it and I cant figure out why anyone would be panting and drooling to get this hunk o junk.
The thing is nobody even knows if this thing would shift well or not, the companies planning on making them can not get them to work, obviously.
I work for a major software company and this is what we call "vaporware" in our business.

Thank you. The companies should just be honest instead of just continously giving BS release dates, and just strining people along. This is a complete joke at this point.

I am moving my opinion of these shifters regardless of the manufacturer into your point of view. I have an auto and thought it would be a great mod to have. But I have been working with Brent @ Brenspeed and he has my auto trans shifting like a manual now. I can move every gear to a set rpm and overdrive where I want it. At present gears 1, 2, & 3 shift at 3000 rpm and not before and OD won't come in until 55 mph. I am not sure if you auto guys know how much latitude you really have in changing your shift points when you are working with a great tuner.
Scott
I agree doug has hooked up my shifts and OD point exactly how I wanted. So the begs the question whats is the point of the shifter when the tune will shift for yuo at the perfect time. The shifter would leave room for human error while the tune shift is bang on

I will not wait that long!

eyes on the road and he's never failed to open the pod bay doors, just wish I could
win a chess game.
there you go. This what us so called naysayers have been saying all along, and getting somewhat flammed for it in the process. This product is a joke, adn so are the clowns who are advertising it like its coming out very soon. Why keep telling the consumer bs. Ne ways who cares like i said im fine with the way doug has my car shifting, so I will just relocate this money to a better mod for my car.
Methinks it's just an interesting 'toy'.
Not sure how the Mustang auto works but if it's electronic like our vette auto I can't believe any human could shift faster/more accurately than the computer. When we dyno tuned Vette I saw the multiple tables that controlled all aspects of the tranny via the computer; myriad of ways to adjust shifting of auto to just where/how you want it. If Mustang is similar then the solution is the same.
Add in the ability to adjust shift firmness/quickness/shift points by tuning the PCM and I don't get the appeal of this product.
Back in the mechanical/physical tranny-shifting days, yeah...ratchet shifters made sense. In the present state of electronically controlled trannys, not so much.

I talked with TCI this week and they said they expect it to be out in Aug.
So is this shifter out yet or what? I want to buy it for the hell of it...I hate the stock auto shifter, and there's no way I would get the B&M one. This TCI looks like a fun Sunday afternoon project!
EDIT: I just got off the phone with TCI, they said it was supposed to be released in June, than August, then September, now December. The gentleman said they were having some issues with a part that wasn't fitting right and it should be squared away now, they're just waiting for the final tests of it, which are actually going on this week. He took my name and number to give me a call once they have a final word on it...I guess a lot of people have called for this bad boy!

I wasn't even going to post a response to this thread but since my bud Colby did he has spurred me on.

Lord help up all.
Let this thread die a natural death and let us move on to some mod that will really come about. This POS is dead in the real world. We just need the proper people to admit it.

Well said Scott.
