Swapping out the 4.6 for a 428 cobra jet?
Lol i know it sounds crazy. But i've got to thinking lately, do I really wanna spend 4500+ on a blower and the cost of install or should I just wait till my warranty expires and rip out the 4.6 and swap it for a 428. I could sell the 4.6 and put it towards the 428, but how hard do you all think it would be to do? but dear god could you imagine how sweet it would be ...

It's your ride.... personalize it!
so far I've seen a 302, a 427sohc and a 429 in a S197. Seen a 351 K member for a S197 somewhere but haven't seen a 351 in one yet. If you got to have the fastest one a nitro burning Chrysler under a funny car body should do.

It would end up costing too much money (for me anyway), you would have to swap out the entire drivetrain for one that can be used with that engine, and modify it to fit your car.

Do you have any links to these cars or info about them?

If you do end up doing it, can you take pictures. I want to show my dad because I tried to buy his 428 off him when I first got my 05 and he laughed at me saying it would never fit in the engine bay..

It would fit, the 4.6 is a flippin wide engine. In fact I've heard its even wider than the big blocks ford put in stangs in the 60's

If it's even possible, by the time you do it and swap drivetrains, etc. you won't be any further ahead power-wise than a blown 4.6L, as stated in post #2.

what u mean i wont be any further ahead power wise look http://www.proformanceunlimited.com/...525HP_AAL.html if i pushed the 4.6 to that it would blow up! the only way i'd be getting that amount of power out of a 4.6 is if i swapped with a terminator from a 03/04 cobra which i've also thought about

Well that 525 hp is at the fly wheel, tom281's blown 4.6 is probably close to that right now on stock internals, other than looking cool and some bragging rights, one would be at a loss !

that's the 427 cammer.

There was a 351 windsor S197 on Youtube. A bigblock would be cool but you might wait to see what else is coming out. I know a few who are swapping their V6's for 5.4 3v and 4v.

The wisest thing you've mentioned in this thread is the possibility of using a Terminator setup.

You do realize more than half the people on this forum alone who are driving supercharged mustangs are pushing over 460 to the wheels right? Usually around 8-10psi? On stock internals? Assuming typical drivetrain loss of 15%, thats over 529HP to the crank! Getting more is as simple as a pulley switch. All this for $3500-$6000.
Put in some cams and forged bottom end, and the 4.6 can wreck havoc. Not trying to downplay your idea, but just saying that the 4.6 can put out and handle a lot more power than you may think.
