I'm planning on doing my first oil change at 1500 just to get the gunk out. After some light reading I see that the oil folks recommend using regular oil until 5,000 miles. I've seen mention of WalMart Supertech Synthetic being as good as any other for a better price. Anyone using it and an you give some feedback?

And what about filters, I've seen motocraft, Wix, K&N, Mobil 1, but not supertech...thoughts on this too please.

If you can find out what oil company makes Walmart their oil you should be able to decide if you want to use it or not. I use what I feel is the best oil available, if you feel that Walmart offers awesome oil, go for it. I seriously doubt its awesome stuff though.

I love walmart, always go there and get a box of 6 quarts of Mobil 1 Synthetic oil for $20-25! Can't beat that price

oh yeah

don't use synthetic oil until at least 10,000 miles, it's bad for your car. Use synthetic blend. Most Walmarts sell motorcraft blend oil, which is the oil in your engine now. Buy that instead and use either a motorcraft or fram filter.

I use Mobil 1 and K&N oil filters
