thank you GM refugee
I'm thinking thrown rod or a spun bearing. Kenne Bell is working on his blower now and said 475 RWHP is the limit for stock internals. I read the reason Saleen went with 4-5 psi was the auto trans couldn't take 6-7 psi. I'm not hating on autos. I've got the same tranny in my Lincoln and it looks about the same size as an old C-4, so I believe the rumors about its upper limit is around 400rwhp. When Jaguar superchargered the S-Type I think they went with a Mercedes trans for this reason.

I would agree with the auto you would want to keep her about 4-5 psi ,whereas with the stick you can get a little more out of it...Clutch notwithstanding though =)..I don't expect mine to to last all that long and will upgrade to a centerforce or mcleod when the time comes

The 525 is at the crank
"The new HO Intercooled ProCharger system for ‘05 Mustang GT’s produces a 65-70% power gain on stock motors running pump gas, with 8-9 psi of intercooled boost. This means stock motors produce 445+ RWHP, and are able to run well into the 11‘s with their typical 3,800 lb loaded weight." http://www.procharger.com/2005_mustang.shtml
With Upgrades Procharger is advertising of max posible gains of 850 hp in there Application Guide.
http://www.procharger.com/FORD/ford_auto.shtml
As for the Auto tranny I guess we wont really know until I break it!!

$3850.00 from MC Racing in Overland Park/Lanexa KS. This is for the intercooled P1SC kit, does not include injectors but you can find them all day long (03-04 Cobra takeoffs). They require 39# injectors and MC Racing can tune the car with an XCal or Predator if you already have one. This kit will only produce 9# of boost so if you want more you will have to build a short block.

That brings up a good point about blower types. I think most tranny's have a torque rating, not HP. Procharger type blower make less torque but the same or more peak HP than positive displacement typeblowers. If you got an auto tranny a Procharger might be the better way to go. I like the low end torque but not at the expense of drivetrain. 445+ rwhp should be fine for the stock motor.

i installed a saleen supercharger last week and dyno it. i got 358 hp and 362 tq to the wheels. it a was with their conservitive tune and stock air filter. also it was 98 degree weather. anyway i was disappointed with the torq numbers. i never saw anything 400 rwhp from. they claim 420rwtq which i think i'm missing. anyway very easy to install and great power 3000rpm+

The 400/420 numbers are at the crank, so 358/362 (.85 percent) at the wheels are a decent numbers.

I have a car newbie question about this type of mod. Is this something you would just do for the race track? Or do any of you do it just for that extra kick at the pedal driving around?

This expensive of a mod is way beyond my reach probably until the car is paid in a few years, but I love reading about this stuff! Anyone have a video of a before/after of their Mustang with these installed? Audio would be nice.

For this kind of money I would have to say for racing, but the car will be a everyday driver and weekend racer.
I would'nt recommend opening it up on the street, tickets and insurance get expensive.
It will be alot of fun on the track until I can get a better car built.

The 430rwhp requires 39# injectors, 90mm MAF, and a CAI set-up.

I'd say mostly track. A magazine compared the regular Saleen and the S/C. They where even until 40-50 mph because the S/C could not hook up. The Saleen has some massive tires too. I guess you could do some incredible passing up hills but after that maybe its not that streetable for the price.

I looked at a lot of supercharger, and found that the intercooled systems have the most gain but 418 is very decent, you have manual ar auto trans?
