supercharger and spark knock

let me see if i have this kinda straight.on a sc motor spark knock is the main killer of motors.next would be a lean fuel mixture.so,if you retard timing enough to prevent spark knock and make sure you have plenty of fuel you stand a good chance of running a motor up to about 480 rear wheel hp without breaking a rod or piston.i know there is no guarantee on this what so ever, but if you run a very safe tune your chances are better than running one as close to the edge to get that last hp.i really love the so call mid throttle response after raising my boost from 9 to 14 lbs but dont want to risk breakage.if i give up a little top end hp thats no problem.so,does my theory sound logical or am i crazy and need to build a stronger short block.

Lean fuel and spark knock will hurt a forged block just like a stock one. Read the forums. Plenty of blown forged motors. If you running 14psi I would start saving for a new motor
