Supercharger ????????
Hey guys after years of looking up what kind of supercharger to get I am still trying to choose. I finally have a decent budget for around 9000 ... I will be going to the track maybe two or three times a year . Mainly light to light racing. a lot of my friends have **** sti and I want to be able to kick all of their a** es.. I really like the sound of turbos and prochargers but after a phone call yesterday to jdm engineering out of jersey they told me that a roush, wipple or vortex would create more power. However they do not install procharger so I feel as if our convo was one sided.... I am going to have it professionally installed with upgraded fuel pump 3.73 gears and keep stock internals ... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I am lost. I want the best bang for my buck with the least amount of problems !!!! Thanks

A Man Just Needs Some....
Just depends if you want a twin screw or centrifugal. Twin screw I would go with whipple also. At least the 2.9L. I have see whipples last a very long time and are very reliable. I have seen problems with kenne bell. TVS is supposed to be a good blower also.
Centrifugal I would go with vortec. I don't care for procharger and Paxton is great but not very reliable.

Even though I have a Saleen I also have to recommend the Whipple. If you stay at the 'relatively low' power levels of the stock bottom end just about everything is more or less equal. If you ever decide to step it up the Whipple seems to be the Big Boy in terms of making big power. I've had my blower completely apart to port it and can tell you there are a lot of internal air flow restrictions, especially on the inlet side.
One of my co-workers had a Whipple on his '03 Termi, and it was nothing short of obnoxiously fast.

I have a Whipple on my 08 GT. It's been installed about 2.5 years. I keep it a lower boost (6 lbs) but run 373's with an auto. But Christ this thing is fast with a local tune. If I could hook up better it will run in the 11's. I've had zero probles with the set up and I do drive this thing.

I installed an Inter cooled Whipple on my 05 GT last winter and I couldn't be happier. I upgraded the heat exchanger to an afco dual core and change the reservoir to the aluminum Lethal Performance (also who I bought everything from) for an increased cooling capacity. I also purchased the Whipple 10 rib pulley kit. I researched Kenn Bell as well as I knew I wanted twin screw type. I will not knock Kenn Bell but in my opinion Whipple makes a user friendly OEM quality setup.

the roush TVS 2300 puts down some big numbers , and roush makes alot of there **** fit and work excellent with ford, so you really couldn't go wrong with roush honeslty. i know i'm gonna buy the kit when i get some money saved up , i'm pretty sure it comes pretty easy to install to like with a click in wire harness so theres not splicing , you could honeslty do it yourself if you researched how to and had the tools and know how.

For a 450RWHP car I don't think you can do better than the stock Eaton from GT500 on the 3V motor. You're using fresh take off factory parts designed to 100k miles and it includes a state of the art intercooler which along with the low running temperature inherent in the improved roots design gives you IATs of 20 over ambient. If you're a careful shopper you can do the whole install for around $3500 that's darn good hp per dollar.

Im in the same boat. If you have 9k to spend I would get the tvs 2300 kit with the gt500 fuel system and buy the ford racing aluminator block to put down some huge numbers ...
Im looking at the tvs kit still just waiting for some funds. Good luck with whatever you get

a 9000.00 budget... would buy me a New Boss 5.0 engine, (or a wrecked 5.0 donor car) add a Whipple and you are at 650HP. Sure...it would be a bit of an undertaking, but you would have a unique, street-able, tire ripping, fun car that everyone would have everyone jealous!
