I'm wanting to install a Supercharger on my 05, but don't have alot of experience or data with superchargers. What do you think the best supercharger is for the 05 and why? Vortech, Whipple, Paxton, Kenne Bell, whats the advantage and disadvantage of these different systems.

meh, kb has been havinga lot of problems lately. My suggestion is to do a LOT of reading on the subject as it is a large investment that you should be happy with.

Kenne Bell or Whipple. The relative lack of low-end grunt that the 3V possesses is crying out for positive displacement!

My personal opinion is you should wait for most of the market that makes superchargers to have a product in production with a few customers each. It seems that most of them have products either already released or will be soon, like early spring. These include: Procharger, Vortech/Paxton, Kenne Bell, and Whipple. Since this is a rather large purchase ($3500.00 to $5000.00 on the average) it would be beneficial to someone that is not an "expert" in the field of supercharging/installation to have some baseline data to guide your choice. All things aside you should have an idea of what you want your car to do or how you want it to look as these are questions you will not be asked by retailers. Do you want a wide powerband but relatively modest hp increase, do you want it to just look cool, or do you want high rpm power with a modest low end? I am no expert myself but I have been doing a lot of research in this area lately because I plan to add some boost to my car as well, and I can't afford for this car to be down for installation or technical problems frequently. Good luck, let us know what you find out and ultimately what you have chosen.

Im waiting for about 6 months while im trying to sort them all out. I do like the ProCharger system. It's ease of installation and good power increase are something I will be taking a closer look at. I want to see real results and satisfied customers before I pay my own way!

The next thing is, should I go with a aftercooler ot not. I know they cool the air, but how effecient are they really? The different site's say this and that but real life situations are usually the best. any suggestions.

Anyone have any opinions on the Saleen supercharger?

I know they are not the most efficient in terms of horsepower gains, but seem to be reliable, durable, and don't push the motor too hard.

With all due respect I would value the opinions of those that have these units or those that have had these brands on other cars or worked on them. Otherwise you are treating the opinions of those in the know equal with people who like one over the other based on no reason. Just my thought and trying to help you make the best choice.

I have had a twin-screw KB on a '93 F-150 4x4 and it worked great. The increase in low end torque really helped get a heavy vehicle moving The negative is that a lot of low rpm boost is much harder on the engine internals. I managed to crack a piston while running 8.5 psi boost. In all fairness to KB, I had changed the pulley to go from 6.0 psi to 8.5 psi.
Considering the relatively light weight of the Mustang, IF I decide to go with a S/C in the future, it will be an intercooled centrifical type limited to 6.0 psi.

I totally agree with these latest posts! I very much want to boost my car, but I've been reading ALOT (not just TMS) of preferences and likes or dislikes based on what others see (i.e. I like KB, I hear they're more efficient) I look for the responses and try to find non-biased, experienced feedback on any particular brand (i.e. The Boss Hogs previous post). I definately won't be the guinea pig for a new Charger on a new motor. Patience can save you some money and headaches. What I've been looking at is the history of some of these companies. Once some are available, I will be looking at the first hand experiences with some of these companies.

I say none right now, let the people get better at tuning these motors /computers w/ a blower so you arent the one blowing up.

It's nice to know they will do whatever needed to get their sales up, but that doesn't help the fact that my car would be down for who knows how long. God only knows how long it would take to get new engine parts, especially upgraded internals if something were to get that bad. I would go crazy waiting to rebuild my motor or just waiting for one of these companies to "work out a kink." I waited long enough for the car alone. I can wait for someone else to experience any particular charger.

Too early to tell, wait until you see numbers (both track and dyno).

You also have to decide what you mean by "best supercharger". I.E. best street supercharger, best drag, etc. What are your needs and what are you trying to accomplish? One mans "best supercharger" may be anothers worst.
