Supercharged folks - TIRE feedback??
Supercharged folks - TIRE feedback??
Just trying to see what S/C people are running out back and how happy they are with their rubber.....
[also note if you have new LCAs or not...]
Chime in!!

I'm running Nitto 275/40/17, drag radial, I can still turn them on the street but much better then stock. There good on wet roads also, and are suppose to last between 12-15k, this is not track use every week-end or alot of highway driving in warm temp. they would wear much quicker.
H.O Whipple @ 10PSI
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 285/40ZR18 out back (255/45ZR18 up front)
i'm pretty happy with them.
Although they're useless on 1st gear if i gun it cold (figured i'll have this problem with any make or model with a 470rwtq twin screw till i go semi-slicks!)

Stock tires where a joke, bounced off the rev limiter through third gear, bad.
Put on Nitto 555 295/45/18's on 10" rims with Roush 1" lowering rear springs since the tires are 1.3" taller than stock and CHE double adjustable LCA's with relocation brackets and CHE adj panhard bar. Pretty happy with it, can cut a 2.0sec 60' at the track, which is not good, but not bad on street rubber with a crappy driver. Couldn't bark them in third anymore, so threw on a Spec Stage 3+ clutch and alum flywheel, and now that works again.
Very quite tire, good traction, not too expensive, good looking tread pattern, good wet traction, and tread lasts a good 20-25K+ if you don't abuse them. The main thing is they are whisper quite on the freeway and have good traction, both what I really like.

Thanks for the info so far guys!!
I am going to avoid DRs cause I need something with a higher tread rating/longer life
I have been looking hard at the BF G 285/40s - just thinking about the extra road noise they are supposed to have but grip tradeoff works for me
I had the Nitto 555s on my old black 05 auto - I ran that (N/A) at the track a BUNCH of times (15 total) and those tires held up awesome
ended up selling those wheels with the tires and they were STILL in great shape.
I'm caught in that issue of grip, but wanting to keep the look of the car. (ie - a 27 inch rear tire profile). I have looked at the nitto 295/45s and what makes he hesitate with those is the higher profile. MTAS has them on his ride and they look great - but he has Eibachs and the Saleen springs I have are not as deep a drop. I just don't want the rear of the car to look jacked up....
Thanks for the indepth info Hatch - I have a set of BMR LCAs and a Steeda panhard bar in the garage waiting to go on and the relocation brackets on the way. I am expecting that to help me out as well.

Dave- FWIW, I should have my Nittos next week.... 275/40s on all four. They may not be as big as you want to go, but I'll let you know how they feel. I do have Steeda LCAs, but everything else is stock.

PS sorry about posting this in this thread.
Just a quick note... I bought an extra set of bullitts with 275/40/17 BFG drag radials a month ago and put them on, took it for a spin today. FWIW: easy to power-brake, and a clutch dump at 2k lit them up like candles at Xmas. Oh yeah that's with 28 lbs psi- maybe they'd be better at 20 or less but I didn't have time to try.
Quick edit, remember I have 4.10 gears.
