Strut Tower Brace, What For?
I was just up today looking at a new Saleen while visiting the Ford dealer and it didn`t have a Strut Tower Brace. If a Saleen doesn`t have one that tells me there`s no point. How many can truthfully say it makes a difference?

it does help...it stops the sidewalls from flexing during heavy turning conditions...mustangs have had this problem since the were first built.....i have one in my 66 to prevent the same thing...........

I didn't notice much difference in cornering after installing my FRPP strut tower brace. I am assuming that my 17" wheels have too much sidewall flex to really help... so I essentially have a $150 "Ford Racing" badge under my hood now...

I noticed a slight difference with my FRPP brace, I have the 18" wheels though. Not as much sway in the front on tight turns. Also, I have heard long term, it keeps the strut towers from sagging over time from the weight of the engine.

It ties the front end together to prevent body twist during heavy cornering loads.
I had mine installed with the whole FRPP Handling Kit before I ever even picked the car up, so I can't say what the difference is. All I know is the car has practically NO body roll when cornering.

Also on the Saleen car, the blower is so tall, I don't think anyone MAKES a STB that will clear it and the hood...I don't even know if most aftermarket hoods would clear one that went over the blower anyhow. And they can't go around the back of the blower and do a double-triangle brace like in the old 60s models, since the blower extends fully to the rear of the engine bay.

I cannot lie to you it probably makes no difference unless you are set up for pure racing... I'm not ashamed to admit that I just like the way it looks. The intent of a strut tower brace is to decrease the strut tower flex. Under heavy cornering the strut members can actualy flex almost like shrugging your shoulders. The brace helps keep the front end more ridgid... However in the new cars they are so stiff that this isn't even noticible for most of us...

I beleive Ford has engineered this body so good that its not needed. I saw on TV the program on the building of the Ford GT that the frame was good to 250,000 lbs of torque before any frame failure, some of that same thinking went into the new mustang. How many of us who have drove earlier mustangs will agree nothing comes close to the way this car handles and drives. All together now "AMEN"
