Regarding the intake voiding the warranty: If anything goes wrong on your car and you take it to the dealer, they have to prove the mod caused the problem, it is a law.

Regarding tuning: SCT has a flash out for it, ~15rwhp and ~15rwtq, $325.

Also, I don't understand why they would make this engine run rich from the factory. Usually cars run lean from the factory to keep emissions down and gas mileage up.
An engine that is running lean is more likely to detonate and cause serious engine damage (i.e. send a piston out the side of the block). Detonation can also occur if you accidentally get a tank of bad gas that isn't of the proper octane rating. If they make the mixture a little more fat (rich) from the factory, they won't have to worry about premature engine damage due to detonation.[/b][/quote]
Actually the factories are tunning rich to save the cats. The Feds now require that they last 120K miles. Extreme heat will destroy cats quickly.

But running rich should made the exhaust hotter you say? Nope, the mixture will only burn untill the oxygen is exhausted. After that any additional fuel lowers exhaust temps.

Leaning out the AF ratio will result in more HP but at the expense of cat life. Tunning AF for Max HP could result in a very short cat life. Maybe as short as 10K-15K miles.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.
