Modular Powerhouse thread

279 rwhp / 300 rwtq B)

Air / fuel ratio is so rich they expect 300 rwhp after a dyno tune

Holy SMOKES!!!! That's 328hp/352tq at the fly. Yeah, that's a "robust" 300hp alright (to quote one of the Ford engineers) :worship:

That's awesome stuff.

Can't believe some poster on that board actually doesn't like the body style.

Can you say Pearle Vision Center??

Sounds like 320rwhp with just a tune, pulleys, X-pipe, and maybe a couple of other bolt-ons.

Thank you Ford Motor Company!

sounds like 472 hp at the flywheel, 423 rwhp is just 8 lbs of boost away

Sweet, can't believe I missed this post. That is awesome, Ford tuned em running rich... that is awesome for the typical bolts ons. Might be pushing 330 with very lil in expenditure. Not to mention that reflash of the cpu should put it over 350 easy.

Peak hp is nice, but I want to see the torque curve. See how much that variable valve timing helps down low.

So coming out of the factory they need to be re-tuned? How much does that cost to have that done, and why wouldn't the factory have these machines running correctly from the beginning?

They are running "correctly" for a wide range of applications, situations and drivers. That's why people "tune" their cars for specific situations: RACING usually!

Here's a link to the pic of Motor Trend's dyno chart and numbers.

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/upload...1096325116.jpg

They got lower numbers than this thread states. Also, on their dyno chart it appears that this model will NOT have the torque down low.

Unfortunately, they do not chart the entire RPM range, but more than likely this 3V engine will need to be wound up to 4K to produce serious power.

That is a drawback of a modular engine.

Also, I don't understand why they would make this engine run rich from the factory. Usually cars run lean from the factory to keep emissions down and gas mileage up.
