Steeda Ultralites!

Hello all. I am finally getting to post pictures of mods to my car. I have a 2006 Tungsten Mustang GT. I got Steeda Ultralites springs installed this weekend. Here are before and after pics. The first is before and the second is after. I have SLP loudmouths on the way also!! Thanks to everyone for the info!

looks great, I ordered a set last week and should be here by monday. I will get them put in this week. Your pic has convinced me to do the whole set, I was considering just doing the back springs for now.

Thanks for the compliments! I had a place called Speedtek do it for me. I could probably figure out the rears but I didnt want to mess with the fronts. I am somewhat mechanically inclined but I have done (what I would call major) mods to a car before.

SAMS66, be careful that the tight wound coils on the rear springs go up into the car, and the loose wound side go on the axle. The directions dont tell you that and the place that did mine put them in upside down at first but fixed them no problem. If you look at TACOBILL's write up he states that he called Steeda and they confirmed the direction.

I love my steeda springs. Did you remember to swap over your anti noise grommet off your old one?

Are those the black things on the stock springs? If so they did not put them on the steedas. How miserable will I be without them? do they go on the fronts? SOrry I am a newbie when it comes to modding to cars. Always loved reading about mods but never liked a car enough to drop money into it until now

thanks

Yeah, they go on the front ones. They're supposed to reduce noise. If you don't hear anything you should be good to go, but otherwise, I would have them put them on. Steeda's instructions are very clear about putting them on the new springs.

SAMS, Ride is good It feels a little tighter but not kidney busting tight(I like the ride a little tighter). Chekced the panhard and it is not off by much if it is at all. It is hard to notice with the naked eye, I will try to measure it tonight or tomorrow and get back to you. I still have stock wheels and tires and have read it is hard to tell with them on. Whne you get wider tires it is more prominent.

I got an alignment and the guy told me it is all within tolerance, not exactly on the money but everything was green. It seems to pull slightly to the right still though. People have said on here that the factory builds in a pull to the right to keep you from crossing the line if you fall asleep. The guy at sears said he didnt know of that. Who Knows.

Looks fantastic, Mike!

Best looking drop IMO! (Guess you can say that I'm partial to the Ultralites )

btw- As scramblr mentioned, the black isolators are used to prevent squeaking between the 2 metal parts (coil and strut platform). You may not hear anything now, but as the paint (powdercoating?) starts to wear off the contacting area of the springs, you may start to hear some noise.

Note: The Ultralite front springs have a 'clear' type of isolator installed, but is 1 1/2 to 2 coils up. Don't know what purpose they serve, but I left it there and pretty much butted the black isolators up against it.

I'd contact your installer and see that if (or when) it starts to squeak, there'll cover that labor cost under workmanship warranty. Those guys really should have known to transfer over the isolators when swapping out the springs.

Just be aware, if they do tear it all apart to install it, you'll need another alignment done.

Looks good, Mike! I just finished installing mine, too. Here's a compare shot:

Attachment 923

The car looks longer now and the ride quality is still great!

The only really hard apart about it was removing all the convertible bracing so the rear axle would lower far enough to remove the rear springs. That added over an hour to the install.

Hey guys and gals, all of y'all w/ the Ultralites, when you get a chance, could y'all measure the distance from the ground to the middle on the fender (lined up with the wheel center cap)?
Like this:

I'm curious what everyone is ending up with. Having only done the rears, my measurements were: 27.75 in front and 28 (as shown) in back. Stock 17" wheel and 235 tires.

I'm asking, 'cause some folk have these same measurements after installing all 4 Ultralites!?

Does anyone else think this is a little...."unexpected"? This is starting to freak me out. I'll go measure again later and see if my ruler is "calibrated".

Maybe V6 springs were installed in your car by mistake. I would not think both front springs could be defective.
