So sad to hear this. I see the dark cloud is still following you around. Maybe you better have Mike or someone else purchase a clutch and you be completely out of the equation up to and including the brand name.
I sincerely hope the dealer does not give you a hard time over the mods you have made.

I don't believe deep cycle batteries are the way to go. I am sure they've made major improvements over the years, but they were never designed for the use you're expecting out of them. They are great for running a refer on a boat, for example. Get hold of a battery fac rep who deals with these type problems everyday and explain what you are expecting the battery to do for ya! Paul

Dustin, you can't seem to catch a break, man. Look at the bright side, though. If she was never making the power she was supposed to, it's little wonder high 12s have been so elusive. Get her fixed and you should have a field day at the track. I would definitely ditch either the UDP's or the electric pump. Too much load on the electric system I think (I held off on both since I have a thirsty amp and two 12' subs).

not going to ditch the water pump, I'll just keep charging the battery once a week to maintain it. I might just use one of those jump start batteries to run the electric pump and fan in the pits so I don't drain it out. George used to do this.

that could work. I've heard of guys with hard core audio systems using two-battery setups. I'm wondering if a good capacitor might also help, especially if the pump is drawing current unevenly?

I haven't had a single issue with the same combo in my car....or I should say, while it was running.

I'm having no problems with mine as a daily driver. I think that Dustin may be putting alot more stress on the system by running the pump and fan on battery power only.

It probably has a lot to do with it, yes.

From now on I'll only be doing that with one of those jump start battery packs hooked up until the upgraded alternators come out

How long have you had your combo in?

I installed both together in February.

Why would running on battery only have a negative effect on the alternator?

I have a solution to your electric water pump issues:

www.dccontrol.com, model #WP35 is prob. the unit you would want to look at.

Basically, instead of running the WP wide open, it only runs the pump as hard as it needs to run to keep the car cool. It makes the pump infinitely variable in speed using pulse width modulation. So it won't have the startup spike associated with electric motors, and will prob. only run the WP at half speed or better most of the time.

I've used one of their units for 2 years to power my mark VIII electric fan, and it has performed flawlessly. If you have any questions, contact BASKIN through the site's email, and he'll answer your questions. Awesome customer service, and a good guy...

Either a bigger alternator, an overdrive alt. pulley, or a variable controller like the DCC...

Heck, can you not do both pulley water pump for daily and before the track go with the electric one? There was some discussion a while back on the merits on the elec. waterpump for daily drivers.

I wouldn't to make that switch twice a week...
