Steeda Tri-ax install done - Boot question (isolation one tranny/inside car)?

How did you guys get it to stay in place?

I got the shifter in with very little fuss with the exception of that boot.

I got the boot on, but due to the design of the shifter after i shift a couple times it pulls the boot loose and up it comes. Gets VERY warm with that boot off.

I considered shoving the larger portion of the boot through the hole and sealing it off that way but don't know how well that would work.

Any suggestions?

I used some lithium grease sprayed on the metal to help get the edges down around the frame where it used to be but it won't stay.

I have some vibration it seems but not in the car more like coming from the tranny.. could be from the boot being off and not muffleing the sound.

thanks (i'm going to do a big search but any input here is appreciated)

The boot should stay in place with no problem if it is in correctly. The boot needs to fit down around the fat base of the shifter assembly. It sounds like you don't have it on the shifter properly, as nothing should really move on the boot when you shift. The boot is a major pain to get seated around everything correctly. It fits tight and there is no room to get your hands in there with the console in place. Hope that helps some.

I dropped a nut down in the side of the console and it fell behind the carpet on slide down to the bottom.

So I removed the console today to retrive the nut and took the time to push the boot on properly and it's on now correctly and staying in place.

I may have to cut a small portion out because it seems to bunch up and prevent shifting properly into second gear.

Thanks
