Ok I finally have my Tri-Ax installed to the point now where it doesn't fall apart on its own. Gears 1 - 4 feel and work great. It takes a lot of muscle to get the thing into 5th gear. Then in 5th, beyond 80 MPH, the slight vibration from the shifter turns into a major catastrophe, making the whole car vibrate like crazy. This shifter is transferring a lot of transmission vibration to the body. I put a 3/8" thick soft silicone rubber pad under the shifter mounting plate and it doesn't help.

Steeda can't be reached because Wilma destroyed the town that Steeda is in and the phones have been down all week, not to mention the poor souls in the area that work there.

Is anyone else having these problems? How did you resolve them? Has anyone talked to Steeda about this before?

I'm about to throw in the towel here. Anybody want to buy a slightly used Tri-Ax?

i have the same shifter..mine works great!..sorry to hear about your minor set-back at the moment..i called steeda today, they are running there phones and computers off of a generator, the machine shop is still without power...mine was hard to shift when i first installed it until i switched the shifter handle from the drivers to passenger side.....i also took a dremel and scrapped the paint off of my shifter lever where the bushings mount....

no none at all...on the bottom side of your shifter there is a bolt that secures a round rubber bushing...is that tight? mine was really loose out of the box and i decided to tighten it up a bit...

I had the Steeda Tri-Ax installed on my 97 Cobra. It let in about twice as much noise as stock, and vibrated like crazy. The instruction sheet said the louder 'noise' was normal since it didn't have the same insulation as stock. I liked the shorter throws, but letting in all that gear noise and whine was terrible, not to mention it was harder to engage into some gears and powershift with the Steeda.

I hope they improved it for the 05-06 Mustang. I learned my lesson and am staying with stock on my 06 GT.

Sorry to hear about the problems with it. It was threads like yours that convinced me to try the Saleen short shifter adapter. Stock noise levels, but with much shorter throws that are firmer than stock and give a nice, smooth "snick-chuck" sort of noise.

Sell the Tri-ax on Ebay. You won't lose much.

Okay I think I fixed 80% of the vibration problems. I loosened up the two nuts on the chassis mount (they were real tight) and now the silicone padding does its work. Also on the long transmission arm, I loosened up the bolt a tiny tiny bit. The car doesn't vibrate like crazy anymore. It still vibrates a little now, but it now at a much more tolerable level.

My 5th gear and reverse are a little tight still. I will call Steeda on Monday and see what they say.
