Made from 4130 Chrome Moly material this brace is specifically designed for the 05/06 Mustang. It ties together the inner/outer frame rails and the rear lower control arm mount. Braces are Yellow zinc plated and come with mounting hardware for a bolt on installation, however for maximum benefit a welded installation is recommended. - Patent Pending.

What if you already have the BMR subframe connectors? Will it still work? And I mean the large ones with the jacking rails.

thanks, Doug.

As soon as the phone traffic dies enough for me to take some time away from my desk I'll run over to the warehouse and weight a set real quick.

Not sure, our position is the 05/06 does not need a full subframe connector. We are not into making such a part just to sell it if its really not needed so we do not manufacture them. With this in mind we would not have designed this part to fit around them.

Good one Gus..
I am usually more gooder (less badder) at my symantic gymnastics. I will have to dig out MLA manual for the forum now!

They look nice.

What sort of improvements / benefits have you seen / measured with them installed.

The zinc / chromate conversion finish looks very nice, but most welders have a fit with anything that is zinc plated, so to weld them in you'd probably have to take the finish off the areas to be welded.

The braces tie together the rear lower control arm mount to the inner/outer frame rails. This stiffens this area of the chassis and will provide better responsiveness and effectiveness of the rear suspension, not to mention it reinforces the rear lower control arm mounting point which is important in cars that are going to be launched hard as it helps prevent damage to this mounting point.

As far as the finish, the part has to be coated for rust protection. Most reputable welders if they had a choice between zinc and powdercoating would prefer to deal with zinc at it is easier to remove. The zinc plated finish is more durable than powdercoating and we felt looked much better as well.

Thanks for all the info, Gus. Is this a drag racing peice or is it equally effective for road racing? If the Ford Racing Handling Pack (M-2005-FR3 http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_...rtKeyField=8976 ) is installed are these braces a worthy complement?

All Mustangs will benefit from this piece. Those who drag race and hit the car hard with slicks are the ones who should be looking at a piece like this as a priority, high horsepower road race cars with sticky tires also should have it. Those with street cars will also still benefit long term from the chassis stiffening these provide without the extra weight of a full subframe connector and the support for the torque box itself.

Very nice! About how much $$ would a typical welder charge for this installation?

Different parts of the country have different hourly labor rates, but most shops would probably charge no more than 1 hours labor for these.
