The spoiler creates much more detrimental drag than any downforce. It would havean affect on the drag coefficient of the vehicle. Parasitic drag is the biggest horsepower eater a street car will encounter.
I would have to agree with that.

spoiler delete = hotness! (oh, and purly cosmetic, there's no way the stock spoiler does anything technical)

The 2002 Corvette didn't have a L98 5.7 with 245hp like in the spec sheet you posted, the last 'vette to have that engine was in 1991. There was never a Stealth even produced in 2002...In fact the 02 'vettes had the LS1 with 345hp.

The last Stealth R/T was a 1996 model which had 320hp from 94-96. It was the 90-93 that made 300hp.

I've seen some wierd spoilers on some the import.I suppose they figure they look intimidating or something like that. One car I had about 5 years ago was this 69'Javelin SST 390(AMC)w/4spd 3:90 gears had this overhead type of spoiler from the factory. It prolly didn't do a darn thing but I like the styling.

Maybe so, but there have been plenty of Mustangs with ducktails including 67-70 Shelbys and 69-70 Mustangs.

...not 2002 comparison, but 1992. The spec sheet was from 1992...

There was this guy from Texas, last name was Hall and ran a car called the Chapparel(spell check). His contribution to motor sports was the rear spoiler. It was actually thought it would help with braking which it did via a cable, but what they didn't expect was the added down force which gave the car more rear end traction giving the car quicker track times.
The factory spoiler isn't all that aerodynamic but to some folks they like them just like side scoops that don't cool the brakes or 1/4 glass louvers that don't vent in fresh air, my stock hood scoop is just as phony.

... Oh yeah, you were wrong about the Vet too... . A little more on-line research is needed from you . I usually don't go below 120 mph; even in my driveway. I guess mine is functional . Great insight!

Right there with... with well NASCAR uses them..... Could we get any more unrealistic comparisons. On our cars, any difference would be minimal at best. Cars with functional spoilers take the proper suspension and setup, not to mention weight percentages and the air movement under the car.
These are mass produced Ford Mustangs people. For a second I thought I accidentally clicked on forums.bigricewingsaddhorsepower.com

BTW - that Steelers/Browns game sucked last weekend.

not that it matters much but the vette from 2001-2004 was rated 350hp. there was a 5hp bump in all the Ls1 cars in 2001 due to a change in the fuel injectors and stuff.

I never thought much of white....until now. That is one smooth, clean machine. I'd like to delete my spoiler just to see what it looks but it sounds like it's a PITA to peel away the double-sided tape.

Number 1 if you would actually read the posts! you would realize I said nothing about the Corvette!.. and from the list of your Mods a spoiler would not be apropreate... but curb feelers would!! and I would be willing to bet the only time you have seen 120 MPH is on TV...Because unlike you!.. I have my NHRA license and am a former USAC sanctioned driver...so grow up! Sweet Pea!!..

I am going to have to disagree and Ford would as well. Ford spent considerable time working on the aero of the GT500.
