Is this the sound of a Flowmaster broken baffle?

The last few weeks, I've been noticing a distinctive rattle coming from my driver's side Flowmaster AT... after warming up, it seems to subside. However, the other day, just closing the door made it rattle. Click YouTube ink below to listen.... rattle is quite noticeable just by slightly tapping sides or bottom of muffler. Is this the sound of baffle trouble?

Yes it is. I had the same issue with mine, covered under warranty.

It seems I've read a large number of posts with people experiencing issues with Flowmasters. I hope they are addressing this problem.

Called Flowmaster Inc (as they refer to themselves!) late this afternoon. After a 2 min discussion with tech support, they agreed to ship a new set out tomorrow. (and I should receive by Tue/Wed)... Very professional. They did state that internal welds can (and do) come loose (due to metal expansion), but "not very often". They did request I give them the date codes on my current set once I yank em off. Now I get to experience all the install fun once again (i.e, clamps, alignment, etc). Thanks for all the input.

People are griping about Flowmaster a lot, but their customer service has been great! I told them that some people had problems with their replacement set as well and he said that was early on.........before they knew what the problem actually was. I was told by the customer service rep that since they added the new brace inside, they have not had any issues.

Do they require a receipt to send out a new set? I bought a slightly used set but thankfully I haven't had problems yet. Hopefully I never will but just in case...

Yes... they asked me to fax a copy of my original receipt. I bought my first set through Summit Racing, but Flowmaster is shipping replacement set directly from factory.

My first set lasted 1-1/2 yrs before finally giving out. Flowmaster shipped me a new set after I faxed a copy of my receipt, no questions asked.
I found that after getting the old ones off (PITA) the installation was cake. I had no alignments issues this time around and the clamps were more friendly since I had experience before hand with them.

Heh, I just finally got my gf to get her credit card statement showing the purchase. She bought them as a gift and didnt keep the reciept. Brenspeed send fax it over he will get me a reciept for them. Soon Ill have my replacements. Until then, rattlemasters for me.
They sound just like the video, lol. Also when I slam the door and turn the car off you can hear them.
It did take nearly a year and a half for the problem to develope tho

I think its more than just the baffles coming loose, I think they are rusting on the inside, bad!

Oh great! I had a heck of a time getting my Flowmasters on in the first place due to clamp issues, and now I have to worry about them rusting?

Wow, that is some real rust going on there! Not good! Things in Texas tend to rust anyways because of the high humidity.........

Good thing I kept the stock OEM mufflers huh?

Does this problem only involve the Flowmaster American Thunder series muffler? Or does it affect the other Flowmaster series as well? (Just for future ref.)
