Which software program is required to open an .csv/data file ???
Hey everyone, I just received a digital/data file attachment for my dyno pulls..However I'm unable to open it because of an unknown file error message..All I know about the file is, it's a .csv data file in which I've never heard of before
Anyhow if anyone would happen to know as to which software program is required to open it ? I'd be extremely grateful for any feedback and support you may have to offer..Anyway, thanks in advance..

.CSV = Comma Seperated Value. This is a common file type for spreadsheets.
Use Microsoft Excel, do a file open then a import wizard should pop up. You might need to do a little "grooming" resizing colums and change format from character to numeric, date time etc.
You should even be able to open the file with Word, even notepad but it might not make much sense, you will see data with a bunch of commas.
Let me know if you need any help. I wont be able to reply till tomorrow but will do what I can.

Thanks Tom, and I can definitely use all the help I can get lol...Although I was finally able to open the file using Microsoft excel ? nothing still makes any sense to me as I have no experience with neither excel nor Microsoft Word and have no clue as to what I'm reading nor understand how to break down any of the file data sections..As a matter of fact, if you may be willing ? I'd be more than glad to e-mail you a copy of the file and perhaps you could possibly re-arrange the file for me so that perhaps I may better comprehend just what in the hell I'm looking at
Anyway, let me know you're input on all this and I appreciate any help you may be able to provide..Thanks again in advance, Rocky

To be honest with you Randy, I'm not even sure if the file's a datalog or an actual file captured from the dyno itself..I also have no experience nor knowledge of how to use excel..So in the meantime, for those who are interested ? I posted a text file of the dyno results in a new thread called, text file of dyno results for bamachip's 93 race program, Steeda CAI and UDP's..
If it's like the CSV that the MD software puts out, it will have AFR, horsepower, torque, and RPM. This way you can put it into a graph and set the X and Y and have your printout for HP/Torque/AFR by RPM... MD does MAF voltage as well.

Hey Rocky,
The file is indeed a datalog.I just sent you an email with it saved in Excell format with a brief explanation. I know some of what is in there but not sure on some of the parameters.
I would say post it for those in the know to see and take a look at it. Also give the tuner or the dyno facility a call for an explaination.
Hope this helps and 301hp looks good.
