We got our pipes today. I came home and they were on the porch. Boy did that make him happy. I called him at work you would have thought it was christmas. He said he was coming home right then. When he came through the door he was singing, "Guess what am doing tomorrow?" Yea, putting on the pipes. he yelled across to his buddies to come see. And of course they did. My son Tyler 15 called all his buddies to tell them the news. Can't wait to hear the rumble.....
He said after the pipes are on we should get another 50 horses. He ordered the tune for Michagin today too. He asked if I was mad, and I told him all I wanted was a Starbuck frappachino. He smiled.
50 HORSES with SLPs and a tune? Unless I'm missing something, that can't be possible...but congrats anyway on the exhausts!!!

Why the heck would you LOSE HP for chopping off a restriction? OR does that mean its MORE of a restriction than the mufflers?

HELP!

Loss of backpressure I believe is what can cause the loss in Hp.

That torque increase feel doesnt exist no matter what the setup on the '05, you cant feel 1hp or 1ft/lb. I think your seat-of-the-pants meter needs to be callibrated.

I'll stick with the dynos from MM&FF that say otherwise. (MUCH more than 1 ft-lb at low RPM's)

Probably depends on your state laws. I wanted the loudmouths, but Virginia requires a muffler. Got the Flowmasters instead after seeing the comparison in last month's MM&FF. They are awesome and plently loud enough.
I live in VA, pass by cops a lot, and haven't had any problems except for the one time I let 'er rip right next to a pack of em hiding in the dark. But still no ticket for illegal exhaust. Technically in VA even adding flowmasters is illegal so why not just go all the way. Either way its still going to be an improper equipment ticket if someone really cares.

When I was referring to 50 horse increase I was talking about after all the exhaust is redone (thinking about high flow cats and X pipe to go with the Borlas).

This week is C&L intake and SCT2 tune from Lidio at Alternative Auto and a throttle body spacer.

The Borlas went on fine it was harder to work the old exhaust off around the axle and gas tank especially the drivers side than to put the new ones on. The new pipes were only a pain to get the tips all lined up just right.

I wish the pipes from the H pipe to the muffler was made a little longer maybe only an inch because I would like to have had a little more up in the sleeve between the H pipe and the new one. I also wished the tips stuck out about an inch farther also.

Actually, you should grab the exact numbers. The SLP lost both hp and torque across the board when compared to the stock exhaust. Everything else they tested barely got more than 1 or 2. Try again senior.

Yes. Overall there was a hp loss with the mufflers removed in the MM&FF testing.

Too bad that's not what what we were talking about.

I'm still a firm believer I got some low end torque out of mine. I'll happily trade that for a small hp loss in the high end.

You want exact numbers from the article, here's the graph.
Hmm. What does it show us?
Oh, it shows there was a large torque INCREASE on the low end with a small hp DECREASE in the high end. Gee that sounds familiar. (see quotes above )

Hopefully at the crank after exhaust and intake are both completed.

No I'm not looking for a 50 hp gain from just the exhaust. Man would that be some wishful thinking.

Woohoo, you made a graph....apparently your butt is very sensitive to 2ft/lbs. In all reality thats complete even if you think you can "feel" it.

You should start moonlighting as the Human Dyno(mo).

Oh. That's good. You realize you're wrong, so you make up your own numbers.
Learn how to read a graph. 45.8 ft-lbs @ 2200 RPM. Large increase in low end torque, just like I said.
