SLP Loudmouths, alternative cheaper set-up?
SLP Loudmouths, alternative cheaper set-up?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't see it. I was just wondering if there was another company that makes a similar axle-back muffler-delete kit like the loudmouths, $340 seems pretty steep for a axle-back that is only piping and tips, no mufflers. The GTA's are $60 cheaper and there's mufflers in that one. And while I'm at it I might as well ask if any california people have had any tickets or trouble with these. Thanks.
I agree that $340 is pretty steep for what basically amounts to a set of pipes with nice tips. Motoblue has a similar set up to the GTA's and Iv'e seen them listed for $149.95. They have mufflers as well.
There is NOTHING about the SLP loudmouth system that makes it worth what they're asking.

thanks guys, i actually hadn't heard of the motoblue system. They seem to look/sound a lot like the stingers, and at $149 I can't believe I hadn't seen these before. Is there some catch I don't know about with these? At that price I could buy 3 sets and still come out about the same price as the borla catback. I already have some GTA's but at this price I'm sure I could more than $150 for them, only used for a week.
How do they compare sound-wise to Stingers? Just as loud and deep?
What material is the Motoblue made of and what type of warranty does it have?
The SLP's are T-304 and have a lifetime warranty, but I agree that $340+ is a rather steep price for T-304 pipe and some fancy thin-walled tips.
If someone could make T-304 or even T-316 / T-321 pipes bent straight out with angle cut T-304/316/321 tips that are polished, they could cut down on the cost of fancy tips.

or take your old factory muffles, hack off the clamp end, weld in some tubes and hangers. Get the tip you want and make it slide over and clamp on also and walll-a your in business. I might do this to a set of 1 chambers to see how they sound.

I got my SLP Loudmouth from a group buy deal for $309.00 Shipped. At another mustang forums site, it is actually still going on I think.
They were worth every dime, I have had nothing but compliments almost on a weekly basis

Dan

Kev: I think I'm starting to hear even more gurgling and "backfiring" type sounds from my stock mufflers as they are breaking in. Regardless of the proper terminology, I think they sound pretty **** good for OEM mufflers. They drone if I'm applying enough throttle at the right RPM
I had a shop put a set of 4" truck tips on my car for $50 a side, I get asked all the time about my SLP loudmouths...lol. go to a shop you trust and see what they can bang out for you. chances are you will save $150 or so
Good luck!!

Yea they are set around 1500 miles. They are very well engineered sound-wise and and burble and pop when first started but after 10-15 minutes of driving smooth out nicely when they are up to temperature. I'm switching to GTA's and putting my manual set on my pops auto, his seems a lot quieter(plus I have the factory chromie tips). With the mufflers in the back they are louder then they sound from inside the car. Other people don't hear the engine noises over the exhaust like you do in the seat. You should have someone drive it up the street for you sometime while you stand curbside.
man i love my SLP loudmouths! the tips look awesome and the sound to me is just amazing! loads of compliments, been told a few times now it's the nicest thing they heard on the road!
watch my brother drive the my mustang up and down the highway, i swear i was drolling from the sound!
so i think SLP's are worth every penny with the tips!
