well downside is if u like having a quiet car!! haha no but seriously they are pretty loud when u get on it. Just cruising around town they arent to loud. I have a set and love them. They are a little raspy but they sound good imo. Hell u cant beat them for 280 bucks or so.

they are really loud, which is a super bonus to me, bad thing is, your neighbors may not like them, they are what I'm going to go with though

here is a youtube of some: http://youtube.com/watch?v=aNEeBPadQiQ

I've also been considering ditching my Magnaflows and getting a pair of the SLP loudmouths for a more agressive sound.
Does anyone have a Whipple with the SLP's?

I got mine on since yesterday.

Man they rock!!!

Here is a direct comparison between my old Ford Racing Stingers and the SLP Loudmouth on the same car (mine ):

The Stingers do sound very nice, although I hear the drone is killer.
The SLP LM's have a problem with cheap/thin tips and poor welds:

Here's a clip of my Violators:

DarkFireGT has a better video:

The Violators have mixed quality issues. Some people, like me, had to do major adjustments to get them tucked and aligned properly. Others just had to re-align the mid-pipes. The Violator muffler shells do not have drain holes so they can collect a lot of water during cold days. The water does evaporate when you really heat things up.

CA passenger vehicle exhaust "noise" limit is 95 dB, measured 20 inches from the tips... with engine operating in neutral at 3000-5000 rpms. I'm pretty sure both the SLP Loudmouths and MAC Boomtubes do not meet this limitation (even with cats)... but don't let that stop you!

Exactly. They are very illegal in Switzerland and I still keep on rollin'.

BTW, the FR Stingers are also not sound legal in CA.

I know the stingers are not sound legal, but I wasn't sure about the loudmouths. I have not heard either on of these axlebacks in person, but from what I have heard online, the stingers sound better.

That is not SLP LMs, I believe its Dons car running with the cutout open - So essentially Open Headers.

Ive started my car with no mufflers before and it doesn't sound anywhere near that loud.

If the stingers are not sound legal, than the SLP LMs wouldn't be either.

I was thinking the SLPs would not be sound legal, but was not 100% sure.

I wouldn't let that stop you. Take people like TacoBill, and SONICBOOST both running Stingers (Edit: Just hit me that SB is running the PMM) with either an OffRoad or hiflocatted midpipe. Rules are made to be broken

But seriously, if you ever see a cop- Push in a clutch and coast away

I would not worry too much about swapping out mufflers in cali. What are they gonna pull you over and pull out a DB reader?...No way. Just swapping out mufflers will not be loud. You would probably only need to worry if you ran offroad pipes, then that would be loud. And even then I ran offroad pipes for almost a year and was fine...

That's true. I believe Taco Bill lives in San Diego County. I guess I will look for some used Stingers.

I have owned loudmouths since jan or feb 2005. I have periodically inspected them because a few people had problems with them. Mine are still perfect, my car is a daily driver. Guess it only takes one or two people to have problems to give a product a bad name, most of the people who claim they are trash do not own them or have never owned them.

The upside IMO is they have the best looking tips of any exhaust system I have yet to see on these cars, they sound incredible and they are far more affordable than any other axle back out there, except for the immitations which I'm sure are great except for the tips which is a big selling point to me.

The down side, they are loud on cold start up's. They do not meet most states noise level, I'm in California and have never been pulled over for them. My friend has been 3X or more because of his stereo and or his window tint haha.

Drone, they drone around 2200-2300 RPM when at part throttle under load. I only really experianced this when driving through a mountain pass and clicking OD off helped it because it would get into 5th climbing a moderate hill and would put it righ into the 22-2300rpm range.

One person claimed to lose some torque running them, it was within what I would call the range of error, + or - 7 tq. This could be true (you lose a miniscule amount of back pressure, if you keep your cats it could not possibly be an issue though) but it's not anything you would notice however I have also been told by a guy who ran them he lost .01 in the 8th running them as opposed to running stock mufflers. Again I feel thats within the range of error, unless you have an automatic your probably not going to run so consistant that you can judge a mod within a tenth.

Some complain they make the car sound like an old truck, thats because old trucks had V8's and alot of people put cherry bombs or other straight through exhaust on them. If you like the muscle car sound it's the cheapest way to get there. Otherwise you will need to get long tubes, x pipe and something like flow masters.

I have been 100% satisfied with my purchase choice and still get compliments on the sound. I have had ZERO issues with the quality, 4 years of running them and no pitting rusting or anything else. If the hangers were to fall off tomorrow, I'd order a new set.
