Bought a "new" BBK twin 62mm throttle body and followed the instructions to the letter as to installation. I had also watched the MM&FF's DVD where they bolt on a bunch of parts to an '06 GT and watched them install the throttle body there. Bolted it on, fired her up and observed a high idle originally. Then, after a few seconds, it calmed down to 1000 rpm and I let it idle for a few minutes as the instructions state. Tried to put it in gear, and immediately the wrench light flashed, the car stumbled and stalled. Then, it wouldn't restart. I pulled the negative battery terminal and repeated the process again with the same results. Finally, frustrated, I replaced the stock TB and everything is fine now. WTF???

I guess I'll take the opportunity to say..........
"We told ya so"...... !
But in all seriousness, are you sure you have the TPS set correctly?

I looked into it today. I'm good friends with my local Ford parts manager and he told me they aren't supposed to sell GT500 parts (or, at least order them) without a valid GT500 VIN. He was going to see what he could do (they sold at least 1 GT500 I know of) and get back to me. I believe the GT500 TB comes preassembled with the motor included. All you need to do is swap over the TPS. Also - my cost (10% markup) is $122!!!

the GT500 TB will not "bolt" right on to the stock intake manifold. Every one that I have come across has vacuum leaks. There are also issues with hood clearance. I have the GT500 throttle body, but I have a SALEEN S/C. I have a special adapter plate so it will fit. I also have billet motor mounts which lowered my engine 3/4 of an inch. JDM engineering is working on an adapter plate for stock intakes....mostly due to the interest with you centri folks. (vortech, procharger, etc)

As far as the voltage thing posted above, I am waiting for an opportunity to test it out here. We've had nothing but problematic results with the BBK throttle bodies since they came on the market. Makes you wonder how many BBK gets back from suppliers... and how they get their prototype's to work?
I don't see a reason to upgrade TB until the motor requires that much more air. At minimal requirements, I would say have atleast cams, longtubes, racer intake, and then be looking into TB..

Pretty much the main reason I got the stupid TB was watching the MM&FF DVD. With only a CAI and tune, they bolted on the TB for a 7 hp gain across the rev range. Sounded good to me.

see.. that's the reason why I would trust a random person on one of thse firums that a vendor. I wonder if the GT500 TB would be a nice mod for me. I have the LT headers the CMDP and will have stage 3 Comp cams installed.
