Shorty Antenna

My car is still a few weeks from away, but I am already thinking about mods. The first mod I want to do is definitely a shorty antenna. Is there any brand that gets better reception, or makes less wind noise? Thanks

It's easy and cheap to use your stock antenna. Cut it to the desired height, put the clipped part in a vice and pull off the ball. Then just reattach it and touch up w/ a little black paint if need be.

I also went with the 14" shorty from MustangTuning; however, now they're AmericanMuscle.com. No noticable difference in reception between the towering 32" stock antenna and this one.. plus, the 14" shorty lines up nice with the roof line. Easy to install. Think it's still on sale for $17.99.

I got mine here. No reception loss and they look great.

I have 8" bling-bling chrome (it's very nice, really) antenna from local Checker Auto... bad reception and lots of wind noise!

I installed the UPR billet antenna delete. Reception is very poor, but after installing the Metra Amplified Antenna, the reception is back up to the way it was.

Yes, it was way more work (and a little more $$) than just installing a shorty, but I'm very happy with the end product.

Be careful if you cut it down yourself. I cut the factory one in half, and got a terrible "resonance" in the antenna when driving. It looked like it was going to bend the fender. So, I had to cut it down another half (therefore it is at a quarter now, which I believe is 8"). Not a big deal, but just be on the lookout for it
