Shifter stops, are the necessary
Shifter stops, are the necessary
Ok, I've tried searching but there is too much info out here on shifters to narrow it down to find an answer to my question...
Steeda advertizes the shifter stop bolts on their econ shifter kit as being necessary and they include shifter stop bolts in the Tri-Ax.
MGW offers a shift stop kit with it's shifter but recommends against using it indicating that the factory transmission includes internal stops.
Not sure what is included with Pro-5 or Hurst offerings.
Is a stop kit a good, bad or nuetral idea for the S197 5 speed manual transmission? I am installing an MGW shifter but I have not made up my mind on using the shift stop kit (I bought it with the shifter just in case).

I've have the MGW shifter and I didn't put the shift stops in. There was a lot of discussion about this when we got our shifters and George felt they really weren't needed. If I remember correctly he said the transmission had some kind of stops internally. I'm sure someone else will chime in ...
Everything I have heard is that the transmission has internal stops, so the stops on a shifter are not necessary. I have the Pro 5.0 shifter and it has stops. I bought before the MGW was out.
